ANTIQUE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR MODEL 1840 'WRIST BREAKER' CAVALRY SWORD WITH CONFEDERATE MARKINGS. An antique American Civil War model 1840 'Wrist Breaker' cavalry sword with Confederate markings. 36.5" curved single edge blade marked on the left side '1', 'WD' (war department ?), 'C' and the right side 'Q', 'C.S.' (Confederate States) and 'C'. Top spine of blade marked '1861', 'J J'. Original wood grip with twisted brass wire over leather (some loses). Standard pattern brass hilt and guard with the pommel marked with a 'Q', overall it has a pleasing age patina. The blade has age spotting and exhibits many edge nicks from contact with other sword blades. No scabbard. 42.5" overall. Note: We cannot guarentee the authenticity of the blade markings because most encountered are spurious. $1,000 - 2,000
