Ionia, Herakleia ad Latmon. 155-145 BC. AR Tetradrachm (16.97g). Head right of Athena wearing richly-ornamented crested helmet. Reverse Club right; beneath, owl between two monograms; all within oak wreath. Pozzi 2453. Superb Extremely Fine.

These beautiful Hellenistic tetradrachms were termed stephanephoroi, or wreath-bearers, from the fact that their reverse types were encircled with a wreath. Many cities issued them during the mid-2nd century BC.
