Lot 1024

1830 Capped Bust Half Dollar. Large 0. AU-53. This one has a light scrape down from Liberty's face to the second and third stars, and moderate hairlines. The coin is now toned a medium silvery gray with darker golds at the rims. Boldly struck, but the hairlines are somewhat distracting on this one. For reasons unknown most of the survivors of the Bust half series show hairlines. Perhaps all the coins from the Economite Hoard were cleaned when they were recovered using some sort of abraisive (like baking soda), and hence so many of these show hairlines. Whatever the cause, that's the way they are, and this one is no different. Pleasing eye appeal at a glance.
Estimated Value $175 - 225.
