1808 S-278 R3 Classic Head F12. Sharpness close to F15 but there are traces of shallow verdigris or crud in protected areas. A few faint hairlines are hidden in the toning on the obverse and a small patch of roughness shows at the top of the first T in STATES. Glossy medium to dark chocolate brown with lighter chocolate toning on the right side of the obverse. MDS, Breen state III. Crumbling shows in the dentils under the date and there are clashmarks on both sides. Struck with the obverse die misaligned to K-2.5 while the reverse is properly centered on the planchet. 1809 S-280 R2 Classic Head VF25. Slightly sharper but there are traces of microscopic roughness hidden under the mostly glossy very dark olive brown toning. No verdigris and only trivial contact marks. A tiny planchet flake midway between the brow and star 5 and a small planchet void under the 1 in the date are good identifying marks. MDS, Breen state VI, with die cracks at the top of the reverse. Estimate Value $800 - UP

1810 S-285 R2 Classic Head PCGS graded AU55, CAC Approved. Attractive frosty light to medium chocolate brown. Flowline luster covers the protected areas on both sides and this cent offers excellent eye appeal. The only notable marks are a barely visible tick on the jawline over the front edge of the neck and a planchet chip on the rim over the upright of the E in STATES. M-LDS, Breen state III, with dull die cracks on the obverse and die clashmarks on the reverse. A very nice 1810 Classic Head cent. Our grade is EF40. The attribution and Fricke provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3; 1 finer in 63 for the variety. Estimate Value $2,500 - UP

1811/10 S-286 R3 Classic Head, Overdate 11 over 10 VF20. Sharpness near EF40 but the obverse of this cent was lightly burnished to minimize minor roughness. The only marks are a small spot of very shallow reddish verdigris on the truncation over the 8 and a tiny rim bruise at the M in AMERICA. Mostly glossy dark olive brown and steel with lighter chocolate toning on the highpoints of the obverse. Nicely struck EDS, Breen state I. The overdate feature is strong. Estimate Value $1,000 - UP

1813 S-292 R2 Classic Head PCGS graded XF40. Attractive frosty light olive and medium steel brown. Flowline luster covers the fields and protected areas and this cent offers outstanding eye appeal for the grade. No defects, just very light wear on the highpoints of the devices. M-LDS, Breen state IV. The stars behind the portrait are starting to flow into the rim as are some of the letters at the top of the reverse. Our grade is VF35. The attribution and Fricke provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 9 finer for the variety. Estimate Value $1,500 - UP

1814 S-294 R1 Classic Head, Crosslet 4 EF40. Sharpness close to mint state but extremely fine granularity covers much of the reverse. It takes a glass to see the roughness and the eye appeal of this cent is excellent. The obverse looks mint state. Frosty chocolate brown and steel with slightly reddish chocolate toning in the granular areas on the reverse. No verdigris or notable marks. Sharply struck M-LDS, Breen state II. There are die clashmarks on both sides. Estimate Value $1,500 - UP

1814 S-294 R1 Classic Head, Crosslet 4 PCGS graded XF45. Glossy chocolate and olive brown with some reddish chocolate toning on the lower part of the obverse. The toning on the obverse is a bit uneven and there is a small spot of shallow verdigris in the dentils at star 7. No notable marks or other defects. M-LDS, Breen state II, with die clashmarks on both sides. Our grade is EF40 sharpness net VF35. The attribution and Fricke provenance are noted on the PCGS label.
