Lot 881
1909-S Lincoln 1C. VDB PCGS MS66. PCGS graded MS-66+ Red. Popular key date. Rich mint red colors remaining. This is one of the finest examples of this rarity. Only 484,000 were struck and the vast majority of the survivors are circulated today. Gems are highly coveted, especially when they retain any original Red color. Here is one that offers everything a collector could desire, gorgeous Red color, exceptionally clean surfaces and a bold strike. Furthermore this coin is just a half grade point for the absolute finest seen by PCGS of this issue. Pop 16; 14 finer in 67. (PCGS # 2428) Estimated Value $15,000 - 17,000

Lot 882
1909-S Lincoln 1C. VDB PCGS MS66 RD. PCGS graded MS-66 Red. Well struck with lots of red color. This is the first year of issue for the Lincoln cent, and it is interesting to note that this design was adopted to commemorate the 100th year of Lincoln's birth in 1809. Designed by Victor David Brenner h placed his small initials at the base of the reverse, but the powers that be didn't like such a display or such a bold signature appearing on every cent. The V.D.B. initials were ordered removed, but the coins released continued to circulate. While large numbers of Philadelphia Mint coins are available, only 484,000 San Francisco pieces were struck, making this issue the lowest mintage to date for this series. Finding a stellar Gem like this is quite an accomplishment for the advanced collector. Pop 204; 30 finer, 16 in 66+, 14 in 67. (PCGS # 2428) Estimated Value $7,000 - 7,500

1911-D Lincoln 1C PCGS MS66 RD. PCGS graded MS-66 Red. Well struck with lots of mint red and this is one of the more challenging early mintmarked dates to obtain. Precious few were saved, and from that meager beginning one can only imagine how few retained this degree of original Red color! Not many indeed, especially when combined with such glorious surface quality. Pop 40; 6 finer, 5 in 66+, 1 in 67. (PCGS # 2446) Estimated Value $3,000 - 3,200
