Lot 1568
1852 Moffat & Co. (San Francisco) TEN DOLS PCGS VF30. PCGS graded VF-30. This ever popular Territorial gold coin comes with the PCGS special Gold Foil Tag. SSCA 7060. Although circulated as expected, this shipwreck brought forth an incredible glimpse into the coins, bars and dust from the peak of the Gold Rush, which saw the greatest amount of gold production coming forth in 1857, right when this ship went down, loaded with artifacts and wealth. This coin had been in circulation for about five years, and as we know today virtually the entire mintage of all Territorial gold coins were melted and recoined into standard United States coinage. A rare variety and wonderfully historic and handsome. Pop 18; 100 finer (PCGS # 10187) Estimated Value $9,000 - 10,000
