Lot 1255
1907, $10 Gold Certificate. PCGS Gem New 65PPQ. Fr-1172. KL-441. This broadly-margined Gem displays vivid orange-gold coloration on both the face overprint, and on the back design. The paper is strictly original, with bold embossing evident throughout. While Fr. 1173s with the Speelman-White signature combination are often available (for a price) in a high state of preservation, the earlier Tehee-Burke Fr. 1172 is much scarcer in higher grades. This piece possesses both technical merit and aesthetic appeal, a combination that makes it an ideal example for an advanced type set or Friedberg number collection. Estimated Value $4,000 - 6,000

Lot 1256
1922, $10 Gold Certificate. PCGS Choice New 63PPQ. Fr-1173. KL-442. This Gold Certificate has all the visual appeal, originality, and eye-popping colors of a much higher grade; the centering, however, is slightly skewed with a tight top margin to the left, therefore limiting the grade. Estimated Value $1,200 - 1,500

Lot 1257
1906, $20 Gold Certificate. PCGS Very Fine 35. Fr-1182. KL-559. This gorgeous Gold Certificate possesses vivid colors and inks. Despite a number of light folds that define the grade, it has the appearance of a much higher grade example. Estimated Value $1,500 - 1,700

Lot 1258
1906, $20 Gold Certificate. PCGS Gem New 65PPQ. Fr-1186. KL-563. Vivid colors contrast ideally with bright, original paper on this Gem example. The face centering is suggestive of an even higher grade, and the margins on both sides are fully framed. Few notes could surpass this beauty in terms of pure eye appeal, and PCGS has graded just a handful (five to date) of Fr. 1186s any finer to date. Estimated Value $5,000 - 6,000

Lot 1259
1922, $20 Gold Certificate. PCGS Superb Gem New 67PPQ. Fr-1187. KL-564. This flawless Gold Certificate is a rare exception to a rule: Fr. 1187s almost always come with tight top and bottom margins, due to the position of the engraved notes on the printing plates being very close together. This piece has boardwalk margins all around, and the colors are spectacular. The paper is bright and free of any flaws, providing excellent contrast on both sides. The originality is readily evident, with embossing visible from all parts of the design and overprint. While a small handful of Fr. 1187 mule variety notes have been graded a point higher by PCGS, no Fr. 1187 non-mules have graded any finer than this example. This one is as spectacular as any, and any advanced collector would consider this a prize for which it is worth stretching an extra bid or two. Estimated Value $7,000 - 9,000

Lot 1260
1922, $50 Gold Certificate. PCGS Gem New 66PPQ. Fr-1200. KL-705. This sale features several outstanding high grade Gold Certificates, with this the highlight of them all. The $50 denomination is much scarcer than $10s and $20s of the same series in all conditions, even more so in the upper reaches of uncirculated grades. This Gem is one of but four pieces graded 66PPQ by PCGS, with only one example finer to date. This note deserves every bit of the assigned grade, with bold, vivid colors, and exceptional originality. The centering and margins are outstanding on both sides. High grade $50 Gold Certificates are seldom available on the market, which means that any collector who wishes to obtain a true Gem can wait for quite some time between offerings. This example is as nice as any other that we've seen, and likely cannot be topped in terms of sheer appeal. Estimated Value $25,000 - 30,000
