Lot 1407
1797. JR-1, Rarity 4. PCGS graded Fair-2. A tough type or date to find, as far fewer 1797 dimes seem to exist when compared with those of 1796 which is the only other year with the Small Eagle reverse style. This one has the usual heavy die crack at the date, which adds interest to collectors. The reverse and obverse actually retain more detail than one would expect for the grade assigned. An important coin that should not be overlooked! Only 25,261 struck (PCGS # 38748) .
Estimated Value $700 - 750.

Lot 1408
1807. JR-1, Rarity 2. NGC graded MS-64. Lovely rainbow toning on both sides organized in concentric circles. Both dies show strong evidence of clashing as usually found on 1807 dimes. These were minted in large numbers from dies that held together amazingly well, despite clashing multiple times and impressing the designs into the opposing die! This became the final year of issue of the Draped Bust, Heraldic Eagle design, and collectors of all sorts desire to own an example, especially one in such high grade and noted here. Pop 22; 17 finer, 14 in 65, 2 in 66, 1 in 67.
Estimated Value $15,000 - 16,000.
