1723 Wood's Hibernia Halfpenny Martin 4.40-Gb.8 Rarity-5 VF20. Choice glossy chocolate brown. Excellent eye appeal for the grade. The only marks are a few very light rim bruises. Very late die state with extensive die cracks and crumbling on both sides. Listed on page 45 in the "Redbook."

1787/1887 Connecticut Miller 12-Q Rarity-3 Off Center VG10. Mostly glossy medium chocolate brown with slightly lighter chocolate brown on the highpoints. The only notable defect is a planchet void near the rim off the hand of the seated figure on the reverse. This variety has the first 7 in the date struck over an 8. Struck 15% off center to K-2.5 leaving parts of the legend off the planchet, but the date is complete and strong. Weight 126.8 grains.

1788 Connecticut Miller 3-B.1 R5+ Struck over a Nova Constellatio F15. Choice glossy medium brown with smooth, nearly flawless surfaces. The only mark is a spot of slightly darker reddish brown toning on the T in AUCTORI. Nicely centered and well struck with the date and legends all strong. Parts of the undertype host Nova Constellatio (appears to be a 1785 Crosby 4-D variety) are clear on both sides. A very nice example of this tough variety. Weight 110.8 grains.

1787 Massachusetts Half Cent Ryder 4-C Rarity-1 PCGS graded AU58. Very attractive frosty medium brown and light chocolate with slightly darker steel brown toning on the highpoints of the devices. No spots, stains, or contact marks. A choice piece with just a hint of friction on the highest points of the devices. A premium example of a common die variety, perfect for a type set.

1787 New Jersey Maris 43-d R1 VG10. Double Struck Off Center. Rather glossy light chocolate brown and steel. No roughness, verdigris, or notable marks. Double struck about 5-10% off center to K-4.5 creating an uneven strike that left the date unreadable. The shift between impressions was about half a millimeter but the doubling is visible on both sides. Weight 135.2 grains.

1783 Washington Draped Bust "Cent" Restrike Breen-1193 PCGS graded Proof-66+ Brown. Variety with a center-grained or engrailed edge. Choice medium brown and light chocolate. The obverse shows a beautiful cameo frosting on the devices with reflective fields while the reverse is a more uniform glossy proof. Essentially flawless and the eye appeal is superb. The best identifying mark is a tiny spot of darker toning over the cap at the top of the pole on the reverse. These restrikes were produced by W. J. Taylor in London in the late 1850's using hubs and punches left over from the 1783 original strikes. Listed on page 80 in the "Redbook."
