1837 Half Cent Hard Times Token Low-49 HT-73 R2 AU50. Very attractive glossy medium brown and light chocolate. Smooth and problem-free offering outstanding eye appeal. These popular half cent tokens are part of the Hard Times series, but they are often collected with the regular Federal half cent series since no half cents were struck by the mint in that year. Listed on page 95 in the "Redbook."

1853 C-1 R1 MS60. Attractive frosty medium brown and light chocolate with traces of faded mint color on both sides. The only mark is a thin nick in the field off the chin and a tiny planchet flake off the bust tip (as struck). Sharply struck EDS. Great eye appeal for the grade. Removed from a PCGS slab graded MS61BN (PCGS label #1227.61/10019371 included).

Lot 443
1854 C-1 R1+ PCGS graded MS66 Brown. Highly lustrous light to medium bluish steel with tiny peeps of faded mint red showing on the reverse. Satiny mint frost covers the entire surface on both sides and this half cent offers superb eye appeal. The only marks are a shallow planchet void off the upper left point of star 10 and a microscopic planchet flake at the tip of the nose (both as struck). Sharply struck MDS, Manley state 2.0, with a small but strong lump on the upper part of the I in UNITED. An eye-catching half cent. Our grade is MS65+.

1856 C-1 R2 MS60. Lustrous light to medium steel brown and chocolate. No spots or stains The only defect is a planchet void on the rim above star 9, as struck. E-MDS, Manley state 2.0.

1857 C-1 R2 MS63. Frosty light olive and steel brown with at least a third of the mint red remaining, mostly on the reverse. The notable marks are a small pre-striking planchet void left of star 9+X93, a speck of dark toning (not carbon) under star 2, and a vertical swipe of darker bluish steel and olive toning down the center of the reverse. This streak is covered with microscopic pre-striking planchet chips that are visible only under magnification. MDS. A nice example of the final year of our half cent production. Noyes photo #74325.

1857 C-1 R2 ANACS graded MS62 Brown. Frosty chocolate and bluish steel brown with very faint hints of faded mint color bleeding through in protected areas on the reverse. MDS with satiny fields. The only defect is a small nick on the bridge of the nose. Our grade is AU58+, very close to mint state.
