The spine from the leaf tip over H in HALF is becoming dull. Our grade is MS62+. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. 1829 C-1 R1 PCGS graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved. Frosty light chocolate brown and steel with hints of underlying very faded mint color on the reverse. Just a few trivial marks from flawless, but the luster is a bit subdued by a thin layer of natural oxidation. A tiny planchet fold in the dentils at the top of the obverse can help identify this piece. MDS, Manley state 1.0 late. The spines through the H in HALF and C in CENT are clear but getting dull from die wear. Our grade is MS63. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. 1829 C-1 R1 PCGS graded MS65 Brown. Beautiful lustrous light bluish steel brown and olive. Hints of very faded mint color show through on the obverse while 15% of the reverse shows mellowed mint red. Satiny mint frost covers this piece, even the highest points of the devices, and it offers outstanding eye appeal. Essentially flawless in every respect. A microscopic speck of darker toning under the I in AMERICA may help identify this piece. M-LDS, Manley state 2.0 early. The spines through the H in HALF and C in CENT are dull and the extension from the top of the C has been reduced to a faint nub. Our grade is MS65, same as the PCGS grade. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; none finer for the variety. Estimate Value $2,000 - UP

A swipe of slightly darker olive brown toning from star 7 to the top of the head, a few microscopic ticks on the neck, and a small nick over the L in HALF are the only notable marks. LDS, Manley state 2.0. The spine up from the top of the C in CENT is effectively gone and a fine die clashmark curves down from the middle of the H to the left side of the C. A very attractive half cent. Our grade is MS63. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; none finer for the variety. 1832 C-3 R2 PCGS graded MS65 Brown, CAC Approved. Beautiful lustrous medium brown and light chocolate with overtones of light bluish steel in protected areas. Sharply struck with full radial lines in all the stars and hard, slightly reflective fields on both sides. The only notable marks are a puff of slightly darker brown toning over the curl at the bottom of the neck and a small struck-through line under the A in STATES (caused by a tiny piece of lint or wire that came between the die and planchet when it was struck). Fine horizontal die polishing lines are clearly visible inside the wreath indicating this was a very early strike. Scattered die rust is clearly evident on the reverse. Obviously this reverse die became rusted before ever being used to strike any half cents. A wonderful half cent. Our grade is MS63. 1833 C-1 R1 PCGS graded MS64 Brown. Medium brown blending to light olive brown. Hints of faded mint color are visible in a few places on both sides. The only marks are a small, curved struck-through line in the field right of star 7 and a spot of fine carbon or crud left of the top of the H in HALF. Neither mark is visible without the aid of a good glass. EDS, Manley state 1.0 early, Breen state IV (which Breen says indicate the latest proof and earliest business strikes from this pair of dies). The fields on both sides are smooth and reflective. The die crack to star 2 is faint and does not extend to the rim, and there is a single set of die clashmarks on the reverse but no clashmarks on the obverse. We agree with the PCGS assessment of Business Strike, but the reflective fields are a big plus for this half cent. Must have been struck very shortly after the proofs of this date. Our grade is MS60+. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 6; 4 finer, 2 in 64+, 1 in 65, 1 in 66 for the variety. Satiny mint frost covers the planchet and this half cent offers outstanding eye appeal. Virtually flawless. The best identifying feature is a very small planchet clip that weakens a couple dentils right of star 8 and the opposing dentils over the R in AMERICA (as struck, of course). MDS, Manley state 2.0. The fields are smooth but not reflective and there are multiple sets of die clashmarks on the reverse and a single set on the obverse. Our grade is MS63+. LDS, Manley state 3.0, with extensive and very sharply defined die clashmarks covering the fields on the obverse. At first glance you may think these are contact marks, but they are not. Similar crisp die clashmarks show on the reverse. In addition the central part of the reverse die was freshly polished and much of that area has a reflective prooflike appearance. A neat die state. The surfaces are satiny and virtually flawless offering outstanding eye appeal. Can't find an identifying mark, and that says something. A bit of weakness in the dentils under the junction of the 8 & 3 in the date may help identify this piece. Nicely struck E-MDS, Manley state 1.0. Die clashmarks show on both sides. The surfaces are covered with satiny mint frost, even the highest points of the devices, and this half cent has outstanding eye appeal. There are no identifying marks other than a curved planchet clip that affects the dentils at the top of the obverse and the opposing dentils under the wreath stem. The dentils directly across from the clip are softly struck, the so-called "Blakesly effect" seen on genuine planchet clip error strikes made with a tight collar in the coining chamber. LDS, Manley state 2.0, with more extensive die clashmarks on both sides, particularly before the neck and chin. The repunching on the 5 is still clear. Our grade is MS65.
