Lot 1478
1829, 9 over 7. NGC graded MS-61. A hint of light golden tone. Very attractive. There is a sharp overdate on the 1829, 9 over 7 half dollar. In this series, having an overdate where the two numerals are anything but one year apart is rare. Indeed, there are only two instances: 1817/3 and 1829/7. They are typically the result of leftover dies that the Mint resurrected and repunched with the current year, at a much later time. A lustrous Mint State example. Pop 5; 44 finer. Estimated Value $900 - 1,000

Lot 1479
1831. PCGS graded MS-62. A trifle softly struck but the creamy-white satiny mint surfaces are far above what one would expect for the numerical grade. Since no silver dollars were minted after 1803 (until resumption in 1840), the venerable Bust Half Dollars served as the workhorse denomination in silver metal and was used extensively in import-export with those nations whose currency was based on silver (PCGS # 6159) Estimated Value $1,100 - 1,200
