Lot 72		1803 C-1 R1 EF40+. Five points sharper but there is a faint pin scratch across the neck to the shoulder. Otherwise quite nice. Frosty light olive and medium brown with traces of luster in protected areas. LDS, Manley state 3.0, showing all the die cracks Manley lists for the reverse die. Lot 73		1803 C-3 R2 Double Struck PCGS graded AU53. Frosty chocolate and steel brown with lighter brown toning in protected areas. Traces of mint luster remain visible on both sides. No notable defects, only a few trivial contact marks. MDS, Manley state 3.0, with obvious swelling at the 18 in the date. The reverse was double struck with an offset between impressions of less than a millimeter. The obverse shows no trace of having been struck more than one time by the die, and it may have been pressed against a new blank planchet during the second strike thereby creating an obverse brockage on the new planchet. Lot 74		1803 C-4 R4 VF35. Five points sharper but there is a small splash of microscopic reddish chocolate roughness at BE in LIBERTY and a collection of very tiny ticks at the top of the wreath. Otherwise this piece is choice. Frosty steel brown and chocolate. MDS. The reverse is rotated 10 degrees CW relative to a normal head-to-foot die orientation (this variety often comes with the dies inverted head-to-head). Lot 75		1804 C-1 R3 VF20. Slightly sharper and choice except for a rather strong rim nick over the O in OF. Attractive glossy chocolate brown and steel. Lot 76		1804 C-5 R4 Spiked Chin F15. Ten points sharper but both sides show many small nicks, none notable but far too many for the sharpness grade. Glossy medium chocolate brown. Lot 77		1804 C-6 R2 Spiked Chin F15. Sharpness VF35 but covered with uniform fine granularity. No verdigris, and the only mark is a minor rim bruise right of the Y in LIBERTY. Somewhat frosty dark steel and olive brown. Very rare M-LDS, Manley state 10.5, with a squared void in the cud break over the M in AMERICA. The "Spiked Chin" feature is clear. Lot 78		1804 C-7 R4 Spiked Chin G6. Sharpness VF20 but covered with uniform moderate to strong granularity. No marks or verdigris. Dark olive brown and steel with slightly lighter chocolate toning on the highpoints. Very rare LDS, Manley state 7.0, with a strong cud break connecting OF AMERI to the rim. Lot 79		1804 C-9 R2 "Struck-Through Mint Error" PCGS graded AU50. Glossy chocolate and steel brown with frosty lighter brown toning in protected areas. The only contact mark is a diagonal hairline scratch from the chin into the hair behind the ear. In addition there is an arc of impressed dentils at S-O. This arc appears to have been caused by a previously struck half cent that was impressed into this planchet before it was properly struck by the dies. Therefore it is really a double struck half cent, not a "struck-through" error. E-MDS, Manley state 2.0. The die cracks at IBER and RTY are light. Our grade is EF45. Lot 81		1805 C-4 R2- Large 5 PCGS Genuine, VG Details, Tooled. Sharpness near F12 but the obverse fields have been lightly smoothed to remove some very fine roughness. Slightly glossy reddish chocolate and mahogany. Shallow crud shows in protected areas. EDS, Manley state 1.0. Our grade is net VG7. Lot 82		1806 C-1 R1 Stemless Wreath NGC graded AU55. Frosty bluish steel brown and chocolate. The only defects are a few microscopic specks of darker toning in the obverse fields and a few tiny ticks scattered over both sides, none notable. MDS. Our grade is EF45. Lot 83		1807 C-1 R1 EF45+. Glossy medium chocolate and darker olive brown. The surfaces are smooth and this piece offers excellent eye appeal. Lot 84		1808/7 C-2 R3 Overdate 8 over 7 NGC Fine Details, Obverse Scratched. Attractive glossy chocolate brown and steel. Looks choice to the unaided eye, but a glass reveals some fine, light scratches hidden in the toning on both sides. EDS, Manley state 1.0, before any notable die cracks on the obverse.
