1893 Columbus - Civilization, World's Columbian Exposition Medal, Eglit-105. NGC graded MS-63. Bronze, 59mm. High relief, mature bust of Columbus to left with Memento of the World's Fair, Chicago 1893 around edge at rim. Reverse is an intricately detailed scene of Civilization and Genii above Native American Indians. This medal was designed by Pagliaghi, engraved by Capuccio, and struck by Stephano Johnson in Milan, Italy. Estimated Value $200-UP

  Three Enigmatic U.S. Mint Military Medal Electrypes. About Uncirculated. This lot consists of: Brig. Gen. James Miller, J-MI-17 (63mm, 127g); Brig. Gen. Eleazer Ripley, J-MI-19 (65mm, 125g); and Maj. Gen. Winfield Scott, J-MI-20 (64mm, 124g). These medals are silver-plated copper electrotype shells over base metal cores. We can only speculate about who, when and why these medals were made, but clearly, a lot of effort and skill was required to produce them. Estimated Value $250-UP
