Launch Complex 39A Light Fixture from the Fixed Service Structure (FSS) Since Shuttle Program Began (Mid-70s) Removed 2016. Fantastic piece of NASA history. A heavy, fire and explosion proof light fixture which was part of Pad 39As Fixed Service Structure (FSS). This light structure was in service from the beginning of the Shuttle Program which got underway in the mid-1970s, through the entire program, until its detachment in 2016. The 19 x 14 x 9" light is enclosed by a special reinforced steel and concrete and weighs about 22 pounds. In very good, well-worn condition. The 347-foot high Fixed Service Structure (FSS) of Launch Complex 39A was the closest structure to the Shuttle itself and home to the Orbiter Access Swing Arm for crew entrance and exit, which was attached to the famous 'white room.' Pad A of Launch Complex 39 was the site of 92 launches from 1967 through 2011, including eighty Shuttle launches and all but one of the manned Apollo flights. Astronaut Personal Preference Kit Likely Flown During Shuttle Program. NASA Part ID #SDD12100370-301 s/n 1056 likely flown during the Space Shuttle Program. The PPks were made of Nomex, were Class 1 flight hardware and used to carry an astronaut's personal affects during the Shuttle Program to which they were permitted to carry 20 items that could fit into one PPK. These were handled by ground support personnel using white gloves which accounts for their very clean condition. PPks were stored in a compartment unaccessible to the crew during flight and their design based on the shape and size as those used on the Apollo Program. Bag measures 6 x 9", was purchased as NASA surplus and comes with COA. Excellent condition. Estimate Value $200 - 300

1980s-2000s Shuttle Minolta Spotmeter, Very Likely Flown. Model F, NASA part # SED33102470-303 s/n 5035, on decal on the rear of meter, a Class 1 flight hardware with "Spotmeter F" stenciled in white and is hidden under the blue Velcro strip. Meter was manufactured by Minolta around 1980-81. The blue Velcro on the meter was used to secure it to the shuttle bulkhead when not in use. A color 8 x10" photo is included showing a meter in this position (not the meter in this auction). Meter is missing a rubber guard around the eyepiece, and the lens cap and is fully functional. Also included in the lot is a photocopy of the meter's manual. There is no flight history for this meter and was purchased at NASA Surplus. Estimate Value $450 - 550

Nice Collection of 70+ NASA Photos, A Great Many Signed by Crew Members STS-28/41/51. Great collection of mostly Shuttle flights and crew. First an notebook containing the individual portraits (all color 8 x 10s) of the 1992 Astronaut Class, most who went onto a variety of Shuttle Missions. The entire collection are words of thanks and appreciation inscribed and signed portraits by each of the 24 Astronaut Class crew to clearly a beloved NASA employee. There are also mounted color photos signed by individual crew memembers who flew on STS-41 and STS-51 while space walking. There are 26 photos of crew training for STS-28 in the "Vomit Comet" that had "SECRET" printed on the white borders, but now have "UNCLASSIFIED" stamped neatly over the wor likely as this was a mission deditcated to the US Department of Defense widely believed to be a communications satellite. Collection also includes about 10 photos related to the MIR missions with some oversized color glossies of docking options to the Station. Finally some color aerial photos of Edwards Air Force Base and a few Apollo crew portraits. Estimate Value $150 - 300

Huge compilation of manuals and files all relating to STS-1 The First Shuttle Flight Columbia. The best manual is the Flight Director's working copy, personally sectioned and tabbed for easy reference for Public Affairs and credentialed newswriters and broadcast correspondents to cover STS-1. Also included is a Summary Manual, Operational Design Criteria manual and much much more. All of these files are in very good used condition. We are also including a space shuttle technical manual entitled Orbiter Crash and Rescue Information prepared by NASA and Rockwell which contain many fold-out diagrams, charts, escape procedures and schematics. Also included is an early NASA Public Affairs brochure, color illustrations by Robert McCall in good condition signed by Don Peterson who flew on the Challenger on Mission STS-6, a bay liner strap and shield with tags and parts documents (flight status not known), an engineering schematic of wing construction at the Grumman Aerospace Corp. in Bethpage, NY as well as a commemorative cover with the "Space Shuttle Wing - Grumman" logo and specs printed to the left side. Impoortant Large Archive of STS-2 Materials, Shuttle Columbia, Including 4 Checklist Manuals. Comprehensive archive of materials all relating to the November 1981 Shuttle Flight Columbia (OV-102). Included in this lot are three of the smaller, immediate reference checklists. These include the Flight Operations Ascent Directorate that includes details regarding pre-launch, flight burns and the like. The second, Flight Operations Entry Directorate addresses in detail entry, de-orbit burn and landing. The third is the Flight Data File Orbit Operations Checklist and The fourth is the Flight Data File Medical Checklist. Also included are a dozen sectioned files all relating to the mission. Shuttle Columbia payload bay lighting and configuration test photos; a comprehensive workbook compiled on 10/19/81. This lighting study was done prior to the first deployment of a a satellite from the shuttle. As each day (night/day) cycle in space is only 90 minutes, proper lighting was critical to insure the successful deployement of satellites. NASA Camera Bag Likely Flown On Multiple Shuttle Missions. Class I flight hardware NASA part # SED33102534-310 very likely flown camera bag designed and manufactured by Kirtland Manufacturing of Boulder, Colorado (company sold in 1986). An unknown quantity of these bags were ordered in 1983, have no NASA markings. First flown on STS-7 and every subsequent flight including astronaut stays on MIR and ISS flights at end of the Shuttle Program. Bags had a number of configurations including general purpose bag, film bag, accessory bag, CAM bag 35 mm bag,and 70mm bag denoted by a label inserted in front and side pockets. Bag partitions and stiffners were removed by NASA. Each bag was manufactured to hold three film container bandoliers to the inside lid holding 35 or 70 mm film containers. This bag is configured with one 35mm bandolier. Bag in good condition but does exhibit considerable use including stains, marks and wear areas, purchased as NASA surplus and comes with a COA. BF Goodrich Space Shuttle Nose Gear Tire Segment Flown on Two Different Missions, 1988 & 1989. 2 x 2¾" BF Goodrich flown nose gear tire segment that actually was the first (as set of two) to fly on two different shuttle missions. The first was Mission STS-27 in December of 1988 on Atlantis and again Mission STS-28 on Columbia in August of 1989. Tire from which this segment was removed flew for a combined 230 hours in space and 240 Earth orbits. Spacelab was a reusable laboratory used on certain spaceflights flown by the Space Shuttle which included a pressurized module, an unpressurized carrier and other related hardware housed in the Shuttle's cargo bay. Offered are 5 pieces of hardware all with parts labels and tags attached that were flown in the early 1980s as backup spares. Included are cable tops, controllers, workbench outlets, a transmitter and some sort of compressed air valve. Spacelab components flew on a total of 32 Shuttle missions. NASA Flight Data File Container Manufactured by Boeing. Part #10125-10025-06, the NASA Data File Container was attached to the side fo the seat to hold checklists. For example during ascents they would contain the Orbit OPS, pocket checklists and reference data. Container was provided to NASA by Boeing and was manufactured Sept. 1992. On back written in black marker is "Boeing FEPC CEE Lab" and front parts label has been marked Class III in red ink. This container may have been used for training or a flight unit downgraded to Class III at time of disposal and obtained as NASA surplus. 15 x 11½ x 2", fine condition and comes with COA. Collection of manuals involving a variety of Spacelab-Mir planning dated July and December of 1994 and March 20, 1995. The Mir 18 workbook goes into great detail with experiment summaries and much research retagding metabolic, cardiovascular, biology and micro-gravity research. The 1994 manuals are an encyclopedia of information with respec to life on the Station down to medical care and pharmaceuticals, hardware and equipment inventories, tools; virturally every aspect of human particpation. NASA Flown Contingency Water Stowage Restraint Bag / Shuttle Program, This artifact is part of a NASA Contingency Water Stowage Bag was flown during STS-118. The CWC was made up of two parts, the restraint bag (offered in this lot) and an inner bladder which is not. The bag is flight hardware NASA Part # 10132-10032-04 sn/5037 and was supplied to NASA by Boeing and was manufactured August, 1995. These bags, made of Nomex, were used for a variety of fluid collections and stowage applications on the Space Shuttle, MIR and ISS systems in addtion to providing potable water. When filled, these bags would weigh about 90 pounds on Earth. Bags measure 19 x 16" and were stowed when empty in Shuttle Middeck Lockers. The bag offered here is an older generation. Purchased at NASA surplus, COA included.

There is another solar shield sample 2¼ x 4¼" that comes with a copy of the End Item Control Number document as well as the "condemned" red-tag. Three Unusual Flown Items Shuttle Atlantis: US Flag Segments, TCS Blanket Portion & Sniff Tube Clamps. STS-86 Shuttle Atlantis (OV-104) flown items including three segments of the US Flag painted on a Nomex Felt blanket affixed mid-fuselage above the upper left wing. Flag was painted with a Corning 3140 silicon based material by adding pigments which could withstand up to 800 degrees Fahrenheit. Also included a cut section of a Thermal Control System (TCS) with non-continuance sheet and red tag 5 x 4" and two flown fuel sniff tube clamps yellow-tagged with parts numbers and information sheet. Flown, Used Shuttle Endeavour Wing Structure Insulator, 8th Shuttle-Russian Space Station Mir Docking Mission. Space shuttle orbiter insulator of Endeavour/OV-105 that last flew on Mission STS-89 (1/22 - 1/31/98). This particular insulator was probably part of Shuttle Endeavor singe the oribiter's first flight in 1992 until after the part's removal in Sept. 1998 after 12 space flights. During the 9-day mission, STS-89 and crew transported more than 8000 pounds of scientific equipment, logistical hardware and water from Endeavour to the Mir space station. After 139 orbits around the Earth, Endeavour had logged more than 3.6 million stature miles in space. Exhibits much usage, no part number is visible, measures 17 x 11 x 5" and comes with COA. Sony Camcorder, PD100A ca. 2000 Shuttle Flown Class 1 Flight Hardware. Sony PD100A Camcorder, NASA part # SEZ16103293-301 that was very probably flown in space during the Space Shuttle Program. This camcorder is Class 1 flight hardware with an original cost of $2198.00. Included is the original pink static-free NASA parts bag. One or two camcorders were flown on each Space Shuttle flight and on the International Space Station from 2000 to 2008. An 8 x 10" color photo of a similar Sony PD100A Camcorder (not the one in this lot) in use on a shuttle flight is included as well as a PDF of the instruction manual on disc. NASA Camcorder Bag Assembly Flown At Least on Shuttle Mission STS-111 and Likely More. NASA part # 528-20772-1 s/n 1045 labeld on front. NASA ordered an unknown quantity of these bags contracted from United Space Alliance and are made of Nomex fabric. On three corners of the bag there are sewn labels with "Camcorder" stenciled. NASA removed of the bags with partitions and bottom stiffners so the bag could collapse to about 4" in height in flight. This bag has had those partitions and stffners returned Part 3528-20772-17 and 3528-20772-11 have been put back in for this lot. Bag measures 9 x 14 x 8" well maintained, fully functional and in excellent condition. Comes with COA. Estimate Value $500 - 600

NASA Kodak 760 C Camera Body, Astronaut Shuttle Training, ca. 2005. NASA Kodak (In Cooperation with Nikon) DCS 760C Camera Body was used to train Astronauts during the Space Shuttle Program. This camera is NASA Class III hardware, identical in most respects to the actual flight cameras. Astronaut training using this camera was an important part in NASA's return to flight mission (beginning with STS-114) due to the ability to download images shortly after recording. This camera effectively ended 40 years of Hasselblad photography and a short time later, Nikon as well. The camera bears a NASA inventory sticker from 2011 and a Photo/TV Bldg. 4 label which denotes its use by Astronauts trainers who were located there. In excellent condition and is fully functional with the addition of battery, media and lens which are not included. COA included. Estimate Value $1,200 - 1,500
