1788 Machin's Mills Halfpenny Vlack 23-88A Rarity-2 PCGS graded AU50. Very attractive glossy light to medium chocolate brown. Smooth and very attractive, which is uncommon for a Machin's Mills copper. The only marks are a few small rim nicks, including one at the bottom of the obverse, another over the I in BRITAN, and another over the right side of that N. Later die state with some weakness on the last two digits of the date but everything is readable. Listed on page 69 in the "Redbook." Estimate Value $800 - UP

1787 Nova Eborac (New York) Reverse Figure Seated Right Breen-988 PCGS graded AU50. Light to medium brown and steel with darker steel brown toning on the highpoints of the devices. The surfaces are somewhat frosty and there are no notable defects. Nicely struck but the obverse is off slightly to K-7 and there is a minor planchet clip (as struck) that touches the bottoms of the 178 in the date. The date and legends on the reverse are especially bold. A nice example of this issue for New York. and it comes with a nice provenance. The Craig-Heard provenance is noted on the PCGS label. Listed on page 70 in the "Redbook." Estimate Value $800 - UP
