Elizabeth II, Signed Photo Dated 1953. (1926 -) Queen of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, and Head of the Commonwealth (1952 -). In 2015, she surpassed the reign of her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria, to become the longest-reigning British monarch and the longest-reigning queen regnant in world history. Photo signed and dated ("Elizabeth R / 1953"), as Queen, black & white, no place, 16½ x 12". Laid to 24 x 18" presentation mat. Portrait by Dorothy Wilding, whose imprint is at lower left. One diagonal crease in lower right corner and a couple of small scuff marks at ourter margins., The signature is bold and clear. A lovely, luminous portrait of the young queen. Ferdinand and Isabella, "The Catholic Monarchs". Ferdinand II of Aragon (1452-1516) and Isabella of Castile and Leon (1451-1504) married in 1469. They were granted the title "the Catholic Monarchs" (Los Reyes Católicos) by Pope Alexander VI. Zealous Catholics, the year 1492 was a momentous one for them: They succeeded in expelling the Moors, who had ruled parts of the Iberian Peninsula for over 700 years; they drove out all Jews who would not convert to Catholicism; and they sponsored Christopher Columbus on an expedition to reach the Indies, a trip which would discover a New World for Europeans and lay the base of the Spanish Empire.

Manuscript document signed by Ferdinand as King ("Yo el Rey") and by Isabella as Queen ("Yo la Reina"), 1 page, laid paper, with a watermark of the Queen's hand holding a scepter, 9 x 8¼, Segovia, July 12, 1503. A letter to Alonso Ramírez de Villaescusa, mayor of the city of Valladolid, instructing him to conduct the investigation he started on the municipal lands that the denizens of the town have invaded and seized and to bring swift justice where it is due so tht the town may receive reparation for what has been seized and settled. Furthermore, he is to see that nothing is done to them to cause them further reason to complain. Fine condition. Beautifully penned and boldly signed by both monarchs. Philip V. 1683-1746) First member of the House of Bourbon to rule as king of Spain, ruling from Nov. 1, 1700 to Jan. 15, 1724, when he abdicated in favor of his son Louis, then again upon the death of his son in 1724 until his own death in 1746. Document signed ("Yo el Rey") ["I the King"], 4 printed pages, 12 x 8½", Buen Venís, July 30, 1705. Headed "El Rey" and directed to the archbishops and bishops of the churches of Peru and New Spain, outlining their duties and requirements. Light soiling and upper edge wear. The document is housed in the original leather dispatch case or pouch with the original key. Attached to the inside is a signed baptismal note from a friar who was at San Ildefonso Indian Pueblo in New Mexico, dated 1789. $800 - 1,000

Prince William and Princess Catherine, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Signed Photo. Autographed color photo 10¾ x 8½", carefully lifted from a souvenir publication of the wedding of Prince William to Catherine Middleton. Superb image of the Royal Couple beaming, immediately after their exchange of vows with full view of the bridal gown designed by English designer Sarah Burton, creative director of the fashion house, Alexander McQueen. Autographs obtained in December of 2014 during their 3-day visit to New York City. Prince William is second in line to succeed his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, after his father, Charles, Prince of Wales. Both autographs are in excellent condition with no smudging and signed in blue gel ink pen. $1,000 - 1,200
