Lot Photo Description Realized
Lot 32
Fish, Hamilton Jr. (1888-1991). A politician of distinction, Fish was a Harvard graduate, a star football player, a Major during World War I, and a Congressman from New York's 26th District (1920-1945) -- in fact, he is the longest living Congressman in U.S. history, living a 102 years. Congressman Fish's legacy to the nation endures to this day for legislation he introduced that provided for the return of the remains of an unknown American soldier killed in France during World War I to the U.S. for interment in a hallowed tomb to be constructed in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. Today known as the Tomb of the Unknowns, it is guarded 24 hours a day by the most elite sentries of the US Army.

Offered is a beautiful near-to-mint sepia photograph 14" x 11" of Fish, inscribed, signed and dated April 2nd, 1935 and also hand signed by the photographer, Blackstone, New York City. In excellent condition. Scarce. $200 - 300
