Excellent Collection of 70 Autographed Covers & Postcards by Baseball Greats Including HOF Players. Very nice collection of signed covers from the All Star Sport Series as well as covers by Gateway. A series of autographed first day issue collector's covers (virtually all with silk portrait cachets) signed by various major league all-stars. All obtained in person at a variety of sports collector's conventions such as the 5th Annual National Sports Collection, Valley Forge Show, Manhattan Center 1, Big Apple IV, La Guardia I, 10th Queens Show and other East Coast fan conventions. Great stars from the 60's to 90's Best is a collection of a handful of vintage covers two celebrating baseball's centennial in 1939 one signed by Johnny Mize, the other Warren Spahn, and Willy Mays., a cover from the 60s of Eddie Mathews also covers from the 1980's of Hank Aaron, Frank Robison and two exceptionally fine and signed covers by Mickey Mantle. Signed First Day Cover, Baseball Centenary 1939, by 9 Brooklyn Dodgers, 1940 Opening Day Ticket. This first day cover for the Baseball Centennial Stamp is posted on the FDOI, June 12th, 1939. The cachet is the first colorprinted design by Leatherstocking in very good condition. This issue is probably the most sought after sports topical first day cover. Cover has been exploded to reveal the 9 Brooklyn Dodgers signatures obtained on back, highly likely around the period given all in various brands of fountain pen ink and on the 39-40 Dodgers roster. The nine signatures include Leo Durocher, Dolph Camilli, Harry A. "Cookie" Lavagetto, Pete Coscarat, Joe Medwick, Dixie Walker, Babe Phelps, Van Mungo and General Manager of the Dodgers Larry MacPhail from 1938-1942 and then became President/Part Owner NY Yankees. Also included in this framed piece is an original, Opening Day 1940, Ebbets Field ticket stub that was printed and cut to a catcher's mitt, an admission price of $1.65. $300 - 500

Tunney, Gene. (1897-1978). American professional boxer and the world heavyweight champion from 1926–28, he was also a two-time American light heavyweight champion.

Typed letter signed ("Gene Tunney"), on his personal stationery, 1 page, 10 x 7¾", n.p., October 7, 1930. To the Guaranty Trust Company, New York City. With a "Letter Completed and Ready for Filing" stamp dated in pencil "10/7/30" at the lower left, a few blue pencil marks and notes in black ink, a "Guaranty Trust Co. / Custody Division" date stamp on the verso, several staple holes, some of which are slightly torn, and a hole punch obscuring the letter U in "Tunney" printed at the top of the stationery, the text is clear and the signature bold, the letter in very good condition. $200 - 300

Bobby Jones Signed Book, A Pictoral History of Golf. (1902 – 1971) Robert "Bobby" Tyre Jones Jr., a lawyer and celebrated amateur golfer proved to be one of the most beloved and influential figures in the history of the sport dominating the top level amateur circuit for most of the 1920s. He co-founded the Masters Tournament and assisted in the design of the Augusta National Golf Club. He shot over 18 shorts related to golf, many starring some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Further he has been portrayed in two quasi-biographical film including Robert Redford's THE LEGEND OF BAGGER VANCE. Offered is an inscribed and signed page in front of book executed in pencil
