A HIGH QUALITY ANTIQUE ENGLISH 18 CENTURY FLINTLOCK PISTOL MADE BY H. W. MORTIMER, LONDON, CONVERTED TO PERCUSSION. A high quality antique English flintlock pistol made by H. W. MORTIMER, LONDON, converted to percussion in the 1840's. 9".64 cal octagon smooth-bore steel barrel marked on the top flat ' H. W. MORTIMER, GUN MAKER TO HIS MAJESTY'. Engraved steel furniture includes a 'Pineapple' trigger guard finial. Captive ram rod. Lock engraved 'H. W. MORTIMER', '89 FLEET Stt' with sliding safety, in good working mechanical order. Stock is sound with a stress crack at the fore-end, scratches and dings from handling, fine micro checkering on grip. A high quality pistol most likely one of a pair owned by a gentleman or officer. 14.75" overall. The pistol is in it's original flintlock configuration. 5.25".50 cal. octagon steel barrel with gold band inlayed in the patent breech, two Birmingham PROOFS struck on the underside. Plain steel furniture and the belt hook is missing. Lock is engraved with the maker's name 'MAYES', with sliding safety, water proof pan, high quality roller frizzen spring and is in good mechanical working order. Stock is sound with stress crack just below the rear of lock, fine micro checkered grip, scratches and dings from years of handling. An antique Civil War Period British Pattern 1853 Enfield percussion military musket known to have been imported for the Union and the Confederacy. 39".577 cal. barrel with the British arsenal inspector and proof marks stamped at breech and fitted with a long rang sight. Lock is marked '1858 ENFIELD', and a small 'CROWN' over 'V.R' (Victoria Regina), and a small 'CROWN' over the 'BROAD ARROW' (Government ownership mark), and is in good mechanical working order. The stock is sound with a spliced in repair just above the rear of lock, some small stress cracks, edge loses, scratches and dings from years of service. An antique European (most likely Dutch) Military flintlock holster pistol, circa.1740-1780 converted to percussion in the 1840's. Brass furniture. No provision for a ram rod (intensional design so when the pistol was removed from a saddle holster the ram rod would not catch and fall to the ground. A seperate ram rod was retained on a lanyard). Sound root wood stock with a stress cracks in a few areas. Convex lock plate with remnants of engraved maker marks in good mechanical working order. 10.75".70 cal. smooth-bore barrel marked on the left side of breech 'G' and 'N : I', All steel parts have salt and pepper age pitting with age patina. 18" overall. An antique American Civil War model 1840 'Wrist Breaker' cavalry sword with Confederate markings. 36.5" curved single edge blade marked on the left side '1', 'WD' (war department ?), 'C' and the right side 'Q', 'C.S.' (Confederate States) and 'C'. Top spine of blade marked '1861', 'J J'. Original wood grip with twisted brass wire over leather (some loses). Standard pattern brass hilt and guard with the pommel marked with a 'Q', overall it has a pleasing age patina. The blade has age spotting and exhibits many edge nicks from contact with other sword blades. No scabbard. 42.5" overall. US Model 1840 Light Artillery Saber (unmarked) 32½" curved blade. Regulation brass hilt/guard with wood grip covered in leather and twisted brass wire (large split in wood, some leather loss and 5% wire remaining) no scabbard. May be a foreign import. Dark age patina. 38" overall. 3.) US Model 1860 Cavalry sword made by Ames Mfg. Co. An Untouched Early French Sword (Sabre Briquet) of the Napoleonic War, circa. pre-1816 (possibly the pattern AN XI, around 1802-03). 25" curved single-edged blade with upper edge fuller that extends approx. 20". Heavy brass guard and grip all as one. Knuckle bow stamped with several inspector's marks and 'VERSAILLES'. 30.5" overall. No scabbard. The sword is in 'as found' condition. Blade has a thick surface rust that will clean up if desired no evidence of deep pitting. Brass has a very deep olive age patina. Brass 'heart' guard that was modified (slimmed down) removing the thumb ring during the period of use; globular pommel and capstan; accelerating spiral in the cast grip. The underside of its inboard counterguard is marked 'H.R.B. 15'; knuckle guard is marked '7.R.8C.19' on one side and '13.L.I.B.1.C.83'. No scabbard. 29.25" overall. Stock is solid with a repaired section just behind hammer, a chip at the rear of lock mortis, a small hole is drilled through the butt, scratches and dings from years of service. Co., Chicopee, Mass', and 'C.E.W.' (Inspector mark) stamped on blade and pommel. Original wood grip with 75% of the twisted brass wire over leather (worn and flaking). Brass hilt/guard. Blade is well marked and in good overall condition with age spotting. Original steel scabbard is missing the mouth fitting and is heavily pitted at the drag. 42.25" overall. $700 - 1,000
