China. A lot ancient Chines Brothel Tokens Sharpness of VF. A rarer type of the series. Four copulating partners on the obverse; Chinese character "Ming Huang Yu Ying" on the reverse. Lot of 5 coins. Sharpness of Very Fine.
Also known as "Spring Money" or "Secret Game Token". These special issues can be traced back a long time in the Chinese history. In some areas, they were casted as gifts for young couples to serve as instructions of intercourse. In other areas, these were simply sold as brothel tokens. As for the latter case, these tokens were usually issued in multiple metals with bronze pieces for the basic level, silver pieces for the more popular choices, and gilt silver pieces for the most skilled and educated entertainment practitioners.
