Lot 1493
1869 $20 Liberty PCGS PF64 DC. PCGS graded Proof 64 Deep Cameo. Only 25 minted. A hint of light gold tone in the fields of the obverse and reverse. A lovely coin which dazzles the eye and is one of the fantastic early proofs of this series. Although 25 were minted it is estimated that 10 or 11 are known today, some of which are impounded. This example offers bold visual contrast with the Deep Cameo designation, the highest degree of contrast known. PCGS has only graded 3 examples with the Deep Cameo designation, and this is one of them. The grade approaches the gem level, and the surfaces are quite pleasing. Needless to say, this gorgeous rarity offers a compelling opportunity for the specialist. Pop 1; 2 finer, 1 in 64+, 1 in 65 (PCGS # 99084) Estimated Value $110,000-UP
