Lot 2017
1870-S. NGC graded MS-65. Well struck and untoned with flashy luster and ample mint frost on the devices. The open fields are quite clean, with a few tiny scuffs and nicks that are not too distracting. This is one of the tougher mintmarked dates from the Gold dollar series, not only due to the tiny mintage and high attrition rate, but for the demand from many collectors who seek a high grade example. This one is high among the finest known. Only 3,000 struck. Pop 3; none finer at NGC. (PCGS # 7570) .
Estimated Value $16,000 - 18,000.

Lot 2019
1878. PCGS graded MS-66 PQ. CAC Approved. Fully white with reflective surfaces. Most of the Gold dollars in this era have low mintages, here only 3,000 struck in 1878, and when compared with the millions of silver dollars struck this year puts things into a different perspective. Gems like this are highly collectible an popular with collectors for they offer great beauty as well as rarity in abundance. Pop 5; 2 finer, 1 in 66+, 1 in 67. (PCGS # 7579) .
