1902, $5 National Bank Note. The First NB, Toms River, NJ. Ch. #2509. PCGS Very Fine 20PPQ. Fr-607. KL-1164. This is a bright example from a popularly collected New Jersey location, with completely original paper quality and no flaws other than the slightly askew bottom margin which was cut into the design at the time of issue. Most small town banks simply cut the notes by hand from the sheets that they were provided as they were needed, and some bank tellers or cashiers were less careful than others.

This is a lovely "Lazy Deuce" that has great eye appeal for a mid-grade circulated note, with bold colors, bright paper, and excellent originality that is marred only by a trivial repair of a small edge tear in the top margin near the left end. This design type is always in demand by collectors, and nice-looking examples like this note are constantly in short supply.

1882, $10 National Bank Note. The San Miguel NB, Las Vegas, Ter. of NM. Ch. #2454. PMG Very Good 10 Net. Fr-490. KL-1196. This Territorial Brown Back appears considerably nicer than its PMG assigned grade, and it displays good color and bold pen signatures. A couple of tape repairs and some tape residue is visible only on the back. A perfect example for the budget-minded collector to obtain a single example from the Territorial period.
