[Religious Leaders] Mother Teresa, Billy Graham, Desmond Tutu, & Others. Collection of thirteen items: Mother Teresa, signed 5 x 4 " sheet about prayer, 1987; Billy Graham, signed cover of a tract called "What Is Conversion?"; Desmond Tutu, signed 5¾ x 4¼" color photo inscribed "God bless you" and dated "19.11.02"; Norman Vincent Peale, signed card as Minister of Marble Collegiate Church; M. L. King, Sr. signature on a 1978 letter from Harry Sparks; Peter Marshall, on a 2 x 3½ in. card; Edward E. Hale on slip of paper; Eugene C. Blake on back of two small pieces of paper with his printed address; Phillips Brooks (wrote "O Little Town of Bethlehem") on 2½ x 4¼ in card with sentiment and 1891 date; and George Bennard (author of "The Old Rugged Cross") on songbook, "Bennard's Melodies," and a songsheet, 1936, plus an unsigned card. Also, Terry Waite (the Church of England envoy who was taken hostage in Iran), on a 6 x 4 in. photo. Very good to fine.

Young, Brigham (1801-1877) President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) from 1847 until his death in 1877. He founded Salt Lake City and served as the first governor of the Utah Territory.

Autograph letter signed ("Brigham Young"), 1 page, 8½ x 5¼ in., Great Salt Lake City, April 12, 1860. To "Bro. Horace": "In making these purchases it may be necessary to buy some on a credit. Now, I do not wish you to press the matter unless it is done willingly and on the terms I desire. Otherwise we had better do without although the articles I am sending for are very much needed here. Especially the stool. In giving Notes I think they allow six month or more without interest. I wish you to get the longest time possible on your notes, and without interest until they are due." Ink is slightly faded but completely legible.
