Here is one of the finer examples! Pop 265; 14 finer, 4 in 65+, 9 in 66, 1 in 66+ (PCGS # 9143) .

1911. PCGS graded MS-64+. A brilliant frosty mint near gem specimen. Intensely lustrous and untoned. This issue offers a low mintage of 197,200 pieces and today most of the survivors are from overseas bags, which tend to be low quality mint state coins. Gems are downright rare of this date and mint, and this example sits on the cusp of the gem grade. The strike is sharp and the luster shows the classic greenish radiance that makes original, undipped gold so attractive! A prize for the astute collector who appreciates quality and abundant eye appeal. Pop 21; 54 finer (PCGS # 9157) .

1913. PCGS graded MS-64+. A frosty mint beauty exhibiting rich mint bloom color. This is another date that is plentiful in MS-63 and lower grades but attractive high grade coins are elusive. This one sits on the edge of gem quality, which happens to be the finest seen by PCGS. While collector pressure on gems is extreme, and they realize multiples of the expected price of this handsome MS-64+, in reality there is just a whisper of diffence in quality. Therefore, this one offers both great eye appeal and quality for an affordable price. Pop 8; 13 finer in 65 (PCGS # 9161) .
