Lot 1493
1915. PCGS graded Proof 66. Only 75 pieces minted. A magnificent gem matte proof displaying even deep honey color Roman finish throughout. One hint of a toning spot is noted in the field above the tail of the eagle. The surfaces are virtually perfect and the delicate matte finish shows tiny interlocking facets that sparkle back any and all light in tiny pinpoints. These are truly coins for connoiseurs.

The 1915 issue is the final year of gold proof production being sold to the public. Demand had slipped this year and only 75 pieces struck. Today there a perhaps 40 or so that exist and this one is tied with the absolute top of those certified. Only 3 merit the PR-66 grade! Destined for a top quality collection. Pop 3; none finer (PCGS # 8897) .
Estimated Value $75,000 - 80,000.
