1868. PCGS graded AU-58. Plenty of frosty mint luster present on both sides. Only 10,630 struck of which about 150-200 exist today. The finest seen is a single MS-62 coin, and best specialists can obtain is a coin like this desirable AU-58. They simply don't exist in any quantity or in highly appealing mint state grades. These coins entered circulation, most were later melted, and the few around today are all highly ddesirable! Another tough date and mint from this challenging series. Pop 13; 2 finer, 1 in 60, 1 in 62 (PCGS # 8653) .
Estimated Value $4,500 - 5,000.

Lot 1448
1886. PCGS graded MS-64. A nice mostly untoned example. Its so hard to imagine a much finer example as collectors soon learn that Liberty eagles from this period rarely are found even approaching this grade! Here is one that has excellent fields and devices that show just a couple of trivial nicks from bag handling. Far and away finer than the majority, as noted in the Population data. Pop 7; 1 finer in 64+. (PCGS # 8708) .
Estimated Value $5,500 - 6,000.

1887-S. NGC graded MS-64. Frosty and well struck and quite well preserved for this San Francisco eagle. Most fall well short of the delightful surface qualty here, and these seemingly plentiful dates often produced a number of signficant condition rarities like this! Pop 11; 1 finer in 65. (PCGS # 8711) .
