National Bank Notes - Small

Lot Photo Description Realized
Lot 1291
Trio of Serial Number 1 Small Size Notes. The First NB of Stockton, CA. Ch. #2412. Choice AU or better. A fantastic trio of small size Type 1 Nationals, a $10, $20, and $50, each bearing serial number A000001A. While small size notes from here are occasionally encountered, these serial number 1 notes--which appear on the market for the first time with this sale--are true "trophy" items for California collectors. The trio was obviously saved together for many decades, and we offer them as a group today to offer a collector the opportunity to keep them together for a while longer.
Estimated Value $15,000 - 20,000.

Lot 1304
1929, $20 National Bank Notes. 50 Examples. The American NB of Pensacola, FL, Ch. # 5603. Fr-1802-2. KL-1318. An unusual group of fifty high grade Type 2 $20s, each from the same Florida bank. A number of high grade notes from here showed up on the market several years ago, but to our knowledge this is the only large remaining group that is still together. While the serial numbers are not entirely sequential and therefore this isn't technically an original $1000 "half pack," it's about as close as one can get as original packs of Nationals are nearly unavailable. The grades range from Choice About Uncirculated to Gem Uncirculated, with most present grading Choice CU or better. Outside of this bank, there are very few high grade Florida Nationals available anywhere. This is a fun group for the dealer or collector to split up, or even just to put away. Lot of 50 notes.
Estimated Value $15,000 - 17,000.

1929 Type 1. $50 National Bank Note. Bishop 1st NB of Honolulu, Hawaii. Fr-1803-1. KL-1378. S/N A003480A. CGA Gem Uncirculated 65*. An amazing bright note that avoided the bright Hawaiian sun. This example easily surpasses the $50.00 notes from the fantastic Hawaii collection we sold in 2009. This beauty has been off the market since 1992.
Estimated Value $3,500-UP.
