Lot 1509
1891. NGC graded MS-66 Deep Prooflike. A very important deep prooflike gem dollar, which offers not only the greatest contrast seen on any Morgan dollar, but also includes exceptional surfaces. Bear in mind that gems are downright rare with this degree of reflectivity in the fields because the fields are so delicate and seemingly magnify even minor scuffs or nicks. Thus, when a gem or finer example has this depth of reflectivity, even a few bagmarks can mar the surfaces and drag the technical grade down considerably. Not so here as the surfaces are outstanding with Liberty's cheek showing virtually unbroken frost. Furthermore the fields have only a few shallow chatter marks, and this example represents the absolute finest seen of this date with the deep prooflike designation. Pop 2; none finer at NGC. Tied for the finest example graded at both services.
Estimated Value $25,000-UP.

Lot 1510
1891. PCGS graded MS-64 Deep Mirror Prooflike. A nice white coin. 1891 is a rare issue to find with the Deep Mirror Prooflike designation, as no more than a few hundred (if that many) likely exist that offer this highest level of contrast. Here is one that has not only the deep contrast, but also has attractive, high grade surfaces. Pop 25; 2 finer in 65. (PCGS # 97205) .

Lot 1516
1892-S. PCGS graded UNC Details, Cleaning. Well struck throughout including full breast feathers. A remarkable example, lightly toned with original semi reflective mint luster on both sides. This is one of the key dates to the Morgan dollar series and a coin which is virtually unobtainable in uncirculated grades as so few are known that qualify at this grade level. While this one may have been lightly cleaned in the past, it is certainly far and away finer than the vast majority of survivors of this issue. A coin that would certainly fit well into an advanced Morgan dollar collection (PCGS # 7218) .
Estimated Value $25,000-UP.

1893. PCGS graded MS-65. A nice white coin with a hint of gold tone around the edges. 1893-S. PCGS graded EF-40. Popular key date. Nice even grey and gold toning. Only 100,000 struck, and today just a tiny fraction of these exist. Finding a handsome EF piece is a real challenge for most collectors, as mint state examples of this date are absolutely beyond the means of all but the most well healed collectors.
