1805. Overton-111, Rarity 3. NGC graded AU-58. CAC Approved. Lovely golden toning. A condition rarity at this lofty grade and tied with two others as the second finest seen of this die variety. The strike is sharp throughout and the surfaces are a delight to study. Multiple clash marks are noted in the field before Liberty's neck, from the reverse die striking into the obverse die without a planchet, as commonly seen on this die pairing. A rare and desirable coin that will certainly please the type or variety collector equally for its high quality. Pop 4; 10 finer, 2 in 61, 5 in 62, 2 in 63, 1 in 63+.

Tied with a few others as the seventh finest reported in Steve Herrman's Auction & Mail Bid Prices Realized for Bust Half Dollars 1794 - 1839 for the Overton-101 die variety, and one of the finer examples of this overdate as well. An important offering for the specialist or type and date collector who is seeking a high grade example of this overdate. While the undertype 5 is well hidden by the 6, the tip of the flag as well as part of the lower curve is visible when studied with a loupe. Pop 7; 16 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 6077) .
