Lot 1231		1916. PCGS graded VF-35. Popular key date. The surfaces are lightly toned and the date is sharp and clear. This is the first year of issue of the new Liberty Standing quarter design, and these were released along with the legions of 1917 Type I quarters, so many did not notice those quarters dated 1916 existed until they were well circulated. The overdate feature is sharp and clear, and the fields and devices show minimal evidence of handling. This is one of the scarcest of the 20th Century overdates that has been widely collected for generations and long included in the Standing Liberty quarter set. The surfaces are virtually free of contact, and the strike is reasonably sharp, but not quite enough to make the full head designation. Lot 1244		1924-D. NGC graded MS-67. Modestly toned surfaces, especially the reverse, with great luster and eye appeal. The strike is typical with minor weakness on Liberty's head and most of the usual areas that are seldom seen sharp. Trace softness shows on the three most challenged shield bosses, but after all this is a 1924-D, not one of the more sharply struck later issues.
