Lot 2023
1857-O. PCGS graded AU-58. Only 30,000 minted of which merely 209 examples are estimated to have survived, and this example is clearly one of the very finest seen today. Lovely surfaces that offer hours of enjoyable study, as luster remains in the fields, and there are minimal handling marks on the coin. Well struck and semi prooflike, and one that was probably an early strike from these dies. An important condition rarity and one of the tougher New Orleans Type I double eagles that should not be overlooked by specialists. Seldom offered. Pop 6; 1 finer in 63 (PCGS # 8921) .
Estimated Value $28,000 - 30,000.

Lot 2036
1863-S. PCGS graded AU-58 PQ. CAC Approved. Frosty and deserves a Mint State grade. The surfaces are pleasing and clean, with minimal luster breaks when examined, and no deep or detracting marks. Although a plentiful issue in lower grades, these did not survive in any quantity in mint state, hence collector demand is always strong when a nice example like this--and right on the cusp of mint state--appears. Make sure to enjoy its color, surfaces and luster prior to the sale in order to have a winning bid. Pop 69; 53 finer (PCGS # 8940) .
Estimated Value $7,000 - 7,500.
