Lot 1785
1854-O. SEGS graded MS-61. Untoned. A well struck example of this prized New Orleans Three dollar gold piece, the only issue of this denomination from that branch mint. Mint State pieces are prohibitively rare, and this coin is arguably on the cusp of that sought-after grade. A few minor scattered handling marks are present, but this is an early die state that offers a well defined mintmark and would serve well to represent this key issue. Our grade is AU-58. Only 24,000 struck.
Estimated Value $14,000 - 15,000.

Lot 1786
1854-O. NGC graded AU-55. Mostly untoned. This is the only New Orleans issue of this denomination. Most are a trifle soft in the strike, this one sharper than most though. First year of issue of the denomination as well, and a delight for the date or mint specialist. Only 24,000 struck (PCGS # 7971) .
Estimated Value $5,500 - 6,000.

Lot 1787
1854-O. PCGS graded AU-55. Nice golden toning. The milling is sharp on both sides and the strike is also sharp. A tough date that is nearly unobtainable in mint state, so most collectors try to locate a nice AU coin for their date and mint sets. Here is a perfect candidate as it retains clean surfaces, minimal wear, and rich orange-gold color. First year of issue of the denomination as well, and the only New Orleans $3 date produced. Only 24,000 struck. Pop 47; 22 finer, 20 in 58, 1 in 61, 1 in 62. (PCGS # 7971) .

1888. PCGS graded Proof 64. Rich golden toning.
