Lot 1064
1864. Large Motto. PCGS graded MS-65 Red. The surfaces of this coin are virtually unmellowed and show the original orange-red color that it left the Mint with. It is truly amazing that this coin still exists in essentially the same state it was in when Generals Grant and Lee commanded their respective armies that fought the Battle of the Wilderness. It's like holding history in your hand. Housed in an early green label holder. Pop 238; 61 finer, 5 in 65+, 55 in 66, 1 in 67 (PCGS # 3578) .
Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,100.
