Revolutionary War - American Pistol with English Barrel. American crude cast copy of a brass English side plate and a similar American copy of an English trigger guard and a rammer pipe taken from an English pistol with an all American maple stock of the Revolutionary War period.

Three Pound Grapeshot Removed From USS Constitution. Three pound projectile (grapeshot) removed from the hull of the USS Constitution. This grapeshot was likely shot from a 32 pounder carronade of the Royal Navy. Every major British ship captured by the USS Constitution during the War of 1812 was equipped with this pattern cannon and the stand of grape for the large carronade was constructed with three-pound rounds. 2 1/2" diameter.

Revolutionary War Leather Cartridge Box with Brass Ornamentation. Rare leather pouch 5" x 10" x 4" enclosing a block of wood with holes bored in it to hold indivdual cartridges. The number of holes varied but between twenty and thirty was standard, this piece holding 24. Leather obviously fragile given its 235 + years in age with crazing throughout and stiffness. Nevertheless, almost all entact save for rear belt loop which is detached but included, and the cartridge flap being held together by about half of the original stitching. Crudely fashioned small brass eagle on flap has nine stars etched into body with original wires afixing to leather.

Vintage Original Revolutionary War Era Canteen. Revolutionary War era hand-fashioned wood canteen, 7" x 7" x 3" thick, featuring two round wooden ends and wide, rounded slats, held together with round wooden hoops with interlocking design and braded leather straps. Open hole at top where the spout or plug would have been shows some wear. Original Spanish Brown paint, a brownish-red, iron-oxide, linseed-oil based paint, still in excellent condition. Body of canteen remains very strong.

Two Late 19th Century Patriotic Toy Snare Drums. Two pieces: Toy snare drums made of brass from 1895. The larger drum is 8" tall and 10" in diameter with paint wear, dents and one head damaged but original with wonderful embossed images of the US flag. The smaller drum measures 6¾" x 8¼" with some wear and replaced head. It is embossed with eagles and flags. There are nicely detailed designs pressed into the the wood rims on top and bottom. Both retain their original string braiding and stays. In spite of the issues in condition, these two pieces are quite rare and present nicely.

Revolutionary War Belted Cartridge Pouch. Rare Revolutionary War Era belted leather cartridge pouch. Holding 13 cartridges, pouch and belt fragile given their age but in overall very good condition. Leather throughout shows wear as expected, but buckle still intact. Overall length 47" from buckle to tip, cartridge pouch 3" x 10". Some minor cracking of leather on back of pouch and right strap affixed to pouch is just beginning to separate but still intact.

Pre-Columbian. Chimu Silver-Footed Vessel, c. AD 1100-1250. Big-footed vessel, of baluster form and with a flared neck, the stand decorated with waves and friezes, the body engraved with four vertical friezes depicting three seated mythological figures in a trance state, the whole on a dotted background and flanked with wave friezes. Professional repair to three minor cracks. Height: 9 ¼"; Diameter: 3".

Pre-Columbian. Chimu Silver Beaker With Face, AD 1100-1500. Chimu repoussé silver beaker made in the form of a human face, with prominent nose, eyes, and ears. Dents removed previously. The Chimu culture of the North Coast of Peru was distinguished for the high quality of its metalwork, especially in silver and gold. Height: 15"; width across top: 4¾"; width across bottom: 4¼".

Pre-Columbian, Panama. Large Earthenware Coclé Vessel, c. 800-1500 AD. Important terracotta bowl, round at the top, with a flat bottom, the sides slanting inward at the top. The outer surface is completely covered with a brownish-red coating, decorated on the upper part by two bands with a stylized crab-claw motif in black and red on a cream background. Height: 11"; Diameter of opening is 15".

Pre-Columbian. Embossed Incan Gold Cuff, c. 300-500 AD. Low-grade, hammered gold, probably 10 karat. Adorned with a deer-like face with upward-facing antlers, above which is a headdress. Arms extend from each side and face upward; a garment is composed of a row of raised circles above a row of raised triangles, below which is a pair of wide feet and ankles. A matching raised decorative motif is on either side. Width: 4 ¾".

Pre-Columbian, Peru. Wari Four-Cornered Hat, c. 500-800 AD. Wari, Middle Horizon civilization that flourished in South Central Andes and coastal area of modern day Peruvian hat of camelid hair and cotton; on stand and in excellent condition. Height: 4"; Length: 5"; Width: 5".

Examples can be seen in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Vintage Litho of USS Constitution by Gordon Grant. Vintage original litho dated 1927, 19" x 22", published by direction of the National Committee "Save Old Ironsides" under authority granted by act of Congress, 1927. This litho was instrumental in raising the nearly $750,000 needed at that time to restore the USS Constitution to its former glory. Of course, further restoration has occurred over the decades, but this initial restoration from private sources saved the historic vessel from becoming target practice. In frame, 23" x 26½", and in excellent condition.

Vintage Litho of USS Constitution and the HMS Java. Vintage original limited-edition, hand-colored litho, 16" x 22", No. 6 from the early 1900s of the destruction to the HMS Java in December of 1812 proving one of the most significant naval battles of the war. Art by W.A.K. Martin, in frame, 29" x 36.5", scarce and in excellent condition.

Vintage Litho of the USS Constitution and the HMS Guerrière. Vintage original limited edition, #9 of 150, hand colored litho, 9" x 15" of a painting by W.A.K. Martin and published by Gilbo & Co. depicting the USS Constitution approaching the British frigate, Guerrière, at the commencement of action, August, 19, 1812. Scarce, in frame, 20" x 25½" and in excellent condition.

Woollett, William. The Death of General Wolfe. After the Painting by Benjamin West, 19 x 24", in old frame 23½ x 28¾". Engraved by William Woollett, published January 1st, 1776 by Messrs. Woollett, Boydell and Ryland, London, "From the original Picture in the Collection of Lord Grosvenor" and dedicated to George III. Woollett was appointed historical engraver to His Majesty in 1775. This was the first engraving from West's great historic painting and is considered Woollett's masterpiece.

The frame has a small plaque at bottom center, "From the Collection of Frederica - Duchess of York / ca. 1776-1820." Frederica (1767-1820) was born Princess Frederica, the eldest daughter of Frederick William II, King of Prussia. She married Prince Frederick, Duke of York and the second son of George III. The Duke of York was known for his military failures, which were immortalized in a rhyme: "The grand old Duke of York, He had ten thousand men. He marched them up to the top of the hill,And he marched them down again…."
