Cnaeus Pompey Jr. Silver Denarius (4.1 g), 46-45 BC. Corduba. M POBLICI LEG PR[O PR], helmeted head of Roma right. Reverse: CN MA-GNVS IMP, Hispania standing right, shield on her back, holding two spears and presenting palm to Pompeian soldier standing left on prow, armed with sword. Crawford 469/1c; HCRI 48; Sydenham 1035; RSC 1 (Pompey the Great). Very Fine.

The reverse type represents the support of Further Spain for the Pompeian cause. The female figure, who Crawford does not identify, is obviously Hispania, coming to lend her support (arms) which will lead to ultimate victory (palm-branch) and the restoration of a constitutional Republic.

C. Cassius Longinus. Silver Denarius (4.6 g), 42 BC. Military mint, probably at Smyrna. P. Cornelius Lentulus Spinther, legate. C. CASSI IMP, tripod surmounted by cortina decorated with two laurel branches, fillets hanging on either side. Reverse: LENTVLVS / SPIN[T] in two lines in exergue, capis and lituus. Crawford 500/1; HCRI 219; Sydenham 1308; RSC 7. Virtually as struck, slightly off-centered. Lustrous. Nearly Mint State.

Mark Antony & Lucius Antony. Silver Denarius (2.5 g), 41 BC. Ephesus. M. Cocceius Nerva, proquaestor. M ANT I(MP) (AV)G III VIR R P C M (NE)RVA PROQ P, bare head of Mark Antony right. Reverse: L ANTONIVS COS, bare head of Lucius Antony right. Crawford 517/5a; HCRI 246; Sydenham 1185; RSC 2. Rare. Beautiful iridescent toning on both sides. A trifle off-center, regardless, a remarkable specimen. Extremely Fine.

Lucius Antonius (Antony) was the youngest brother of Mark Antony.

Mark Antony and Cleopatra. Silver Tetradrachm (14.9 g), 36 BC. Antioch. BACIΛICCA KΛEOΠ[ATPA ΘEA NEω]TEPA, diademed and draped bust of Cleopatra right. Reverse: ANTωNIOC AY[TOKPATωP T]PITON TPIωN ANΔPωN, bare head of Mark Antony right. McAlee 174; Prieur 27; RPC I 4094. Both portraits are outstanding. Nice antique, slightly iridescent, toning. Slight flan crack on obverse at 2 o'clock and on corresponding reverse. Choice Very Fine.
