1814. Large Date. JR-3. PCGS graded MS-64. Nicely toned. Some die clashing before Liberty's face on this somewhat later die state. A frosty coin for a Bust Dime collector. Its high degree of broad-spinning luster rests beneath toned highlights. Typical uneven strike and the noted long break on the reverse; with weakness at the usual Achilles' heel on the 1814’s, the stars on the right. Scarce coin in MS64 condition. Pop 24; 6 finer, 5 in 65, 1 in 66 (PCGS # 4488) .
Estimated Value $3,500 - 3,700.

Lot 322
1814. "STATESOFAMERICA." JR-5, R-3. PCGS graded VF-30. Old time toning on both sides. Five die varieties are known among the Dimes of 1814, created through a combination of three obverse and four reverse dies. The recorded mintage was 421,500 coins all produced from the second through fourth quarters of the year. It is believed that this is the total mintage of dimes bearing this date since no examples of this denomination were struck from 1815 through 1819. This STATESOF reverse die was also used with an 1820 obverse, JR-1 (PCGS # 4490) .
Estimated Value $200 - 225.

Lot 324
1827 JR-6. PCGS graded MS-65+. Lovely purple, gold and blue toning on both sides. Star 6 is high and close to a denticle. This coinage date is the second of just four early dimes to exceed the one million coin mark with a mintage of 1,215,000 dimes. While 13 varieties are known from a combination of nine obverse and 10 reverse dies, one of these die marriages (JR-10) is only known in Proof. This JR-1 variety is quite common, however, in higher demand due to its separate listing in the Guide Book. Perhaps the Guide Book notation of "rare" for this Rarity-2 variety could be revised. A frosty gem with strong underlying luster from the dies that reinforce the beauty of the original toning. Pop 1; 2 finer in 66 (PCGS # 4504) .
Estimated Value $15,000 - 16,000.

Lot 325
1827 JR-13. NGC graded MS-65. Mostly untoned with the surfaces reflective. This 1827 date is the second of just four early dimes to exceed the one million coin mark with a mintage of 1,215,000 dimes. While 13 varieties are known from a combination of nine obverse and 10 reverse dies, one of these die marriages (JR-10) is only known in Proof. This JR-1 variety is quite common, however, in higher demand due to its separate listing in the Guide Book. Highly lustrous and largely brilliant with warm silvery highlights on both sides. Nearly fully struck on the hair curls and eagle’s plumage, with just the faintest touch of weakness at the lowest point of the claws and a portion of the reverse motto. Flat stars on obverse. Star 7 is high and points to the upper corner of the LIBERTY headband. E in STATES is repunched. Rarity-3. Pop 19; 8 finer, 1 in 65 Star, 5 in 66, 2 in 67.
Estimated Value $9,000 - 10,000.

Lot 326
1827. PCGS graded MS-64. Lovely rainbow toning on both sides. A glistening beauty and a first-rate MS64 by any standards. An engaging display of lively iridescence leaps off the nicely lustrous surfaces here, well in advance of a more typical large size Capped Bust dime of the year. The strike is strong for the date, with just a touch of lightness on a few stars and the drapery clasp. A desirable coin in this choice condition. Pop 53; 18 finer (PCGS # 4504) .
Estimated Value $3,500 - 3,600.

1832. PCGS graded MS-64 PQ. Well struck with light even gold toning on both sides. A worthwhile Bust Dime by any standard, the luster is not in the least timid or yielding, while pale toning hues blossom on both sides. The strike, like the luster, is confident, indeed, as bold as ever seen on virtually any date in the series. Pop 31; 23 finer (PCGS # 4521) .
Estimated Value $2,500 - 2,600.
