1843. PCGS graded MS-62. CAC Approved. Well struck and frosty. Lightly toned. With more than 611,000 pieces struck, the 1843 is one of the more plentiful of the early No Motto Half Eagles and in Mint State displays all of the charm and resolute detail found on a Coronet piece from this decade. There are a few light surface abrasions in the field before Liberty, as usual for the issue, plus a small scuff below the eagle. Choice detail and luster throughout.Pop 6; 9 finer, 6 in 63, 3 in 64 (PCGS # 8213) .

1847-C. NGC graded AU Details, Improperly Cleaned. Several reverse marks. Mintage increased in the later 1840s at this mint, and well into the 1850s, Charlotte's peak production. Yet coinage was still low compared to Philadelphia's much larger runs of Half Eagles in those years (PCGS # 8223) .

1850-C. Weak C. NGC graded VF-30. Housed in an Old Holder. Only 63,591 minted. Light gold color; toned within the letters. Light circulation abrasions. The 1850-C Half Eagles are found with either a weak C or a strong C from different dies (PCGS # 98244) .

1852-C. PCGS graded EF-40. Nice and bold, lightly toned. A total of 72,574 minted. Charlotte Mint (along with its companion mint in Dahlonega, Georgia) struck gold coins exclusively. Until the 1849-52 period, most of the gold these contained came from local gold mines. But following the California Gold Rush in 1849, much of the bullion made its way to the Eastern mints before the San Francisco facility began operations in 1854 (PCGS # 8251) .
