1976 Rare 7-Piece Process Set for George Washington Bicentennial Medal Issued by American Israel Numismatic Association. Process set demonstrates how a high relief art medal is made. First is the blank, then it's after the blank has been struck once, twice and three times; then planchet is trimmed, antiqued, and finished. All done under the watchful eyes of Medallic Art Company. Lot also includes rare AINA trip to Israel medals made from counterstamped Seasons Greetings medals issued by the Israel Government Coins and Medals Corporation: 1977, 9th Tour, Dan Hotel Reception; 1977, 9th Tour, Mt. Sinai Reception; 1978, 10th Tour; 1980 12th Tour. All medals are as issued.

This lot includes a complete 22-piece bronze collection from the first issue in 1969 through 1992, including bronze Haym Salomon (1973) by Paul Vincze, bronze Albert Einstein (1970) by Robert Russin, bronze the Jews who helped Columbus (1986) by Paul Vincze, bronze Hank Greenberg (1991) by Hal Reed, 1 oz pure silver and 1 oz pure silver gold-plated Justice Ruth Ginsburg (1993) by Hal Reed, plus bronze Ernestine Rose (1994) by Gerta Ries and Mordecai Noah (2012). Plus duplicate Einstein, Haym Salomon and Jews Who Helped Columbus. All as issued except for tiny spot of light toning on Greenberg's cheek.

  Jewish American Hall of Fame, 4 Extraordinary Medals by Marika Somogyi: Chagall, Chaplin, Schindler and End of WWI. The authorized mintage for the Charlie Chaplin and Marc Chagall Centennial silver medals was 500 each, but only about half of each were hand cast and finished by Somogyi in 1977 and 1987, respectively. The Charlie Chaplin contains 1 oz of pure silver and the Marc Chagall. contains 2 troy oz. of pure silver. These were hand serial numbered by Marika Somogyi: Chaplin is 46 and Chagall is 206/500. The V-shaped standing bronze medal commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Allied Victory (1995) is almost 3" tall and featuresa rejoicing American soldier with a rifle in his lap; serial number 31/250. The Oscar Schindler 4" was edge inscribed by the artist as 48/250. These are exceptional works of medallic art created by a multi-award winning artist.

  Jewish-American Hall of Fame, 2004 350 Years of Jewish Life in America Silver and Gold-Plated Silver & Bronze Medals. Large 3" medals each contain 8 troy oz. Gold plated medal is serial number 06 and silver version is serial number 10 (on edge). Fewer than 150 made in pure silver and fewer than 100 made in gold-plated pure silver. Bronze is number 10 of 1,000 made. The obverse features the words of George Washington, including "THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES WHICH GIVES TO BIGOTRY NO SANCTION TO PERSECUTION NO ASSISTANCE" above a modern skyline. The reverse depicts Jewish men and women looking towards the horizon and stars, with the Biblical quote: "PROCLAIM LIBERTY THROUGHOUT THELAND." Medals come in original wooden holders with certificates of authenticity. Total of 16 oz. pure silver.

  Jewish-American Hall of Fame (Magnes Museum) and Other Privately Issued Judaica Medals. Nat Sobel's inspiring 2 1/" Peace Medals were issued in honor of Israel's 40th anniversary. The obverse is composed of an Israeli Kibbutznik and an Arab, arm in arm, forming the face of their mutual forbearer Abraham. The reverse features the word "Peace" in many different languages plus a dove holding an olive branch. Included is silver version weighing 5 troy oz, gold-plated bronze and bronze. Two have certificates hand-signed by Sobel. The 2 1/2" bronze Zweifach Award is given out by the USA Microcirculatory Society. Arthur Welsh 2 1/4" medals were issued by the Greater Washington Historical Society for the 100th anniversary of the death of this Wright Brothers Pilot, instructor and pioneer Jewish aviator (obverse inscription); the reverse features an early better items-plane and the quote from General Hap Arnold: "Welsh taught me everything I know." The Welsh medals are bronze, silver (2.8 troy oz. pure), and gold-plated silver (2.8 troy oz. pure). The Genesis 2 1/2" bronze medal features the first word in the Bible "Bereshet" (In the beginning) in Hebrew; the exceptional design depicts the transformation of the formless earth into the waters and firmament. The Exodus 2 1/4" silver medal is 197 gm. 999 fine, serial number 29 on edge, inscribed "And they Wandered." In addition there is an Exodus bronze medal with a matte finish. Outstanding and rare works of medallic art by Brian Watkins.

This is a very rare complete set of 60 Genius of Michelangelo 1 3/4" solid sterling silver medals struck in brilliant proof cameo by the Franklin Mint in 1970 in original album.
