Walking Liberty Half Dollars

Lot Photo Description Realized
Lot 1171
1936. NGC graded Proof 65. Light hint of toning on both sides. Only 3,901 struck. A showy gem with a cocktail of underlying luster, mirrored to light satiny, that breathes scorching life into the detailed highlights, which are nicely struck with crisp eye-appeal aplenty. Collectors affirm that because this was the initial year of production for Proof Half Dollars since 1915, a fairly substantial number went to new collectors and non-collectors alike who failed to care for them. As a result, many were cleaned or otherwise impaired, and today very few Proofs of 1936 are extant with attractive surfaces. This is a Gem coin, and because of this is a singular opportunity for the knowledgeable collector.
Estimated Value $2,200 - 2,300.
