1829 C-1 R1 MS60 Prooflike. Glossy light olive brown blending to darker chocolate brown in protected areas. The fields are smooth and nicely reflective on both sides. The only marks are some very faint hairlines in the fields and a tiny diagonal nick just right of the upper lip. The die lines from the dentils over ICA are sharp, and these are present only on the earliest strikes from this reverse die. Comes with the original paperwork from Heritage Rare Coin Galleries identifying this piece as a Proof Strike (PRF 63). We are not convinced and believe this is a prooflike very early business strike, and it may have been recolored long ago. Inspection is recommended. Mocab 29.1.8.
Estimated Value $500-UP.

Lot 304
1833 C-1 R1 NGC graded UNC Details, Environmental Damage. Lustrous mint red fading to steel brown with 40% of the red remaining on the obverse and 15% on the reverse. Unfortunately both sides are covered with tiny specks of dark toning, especially the reverse. There is enough mint color showing on the obverse to overcome the tiny specks on that side, but the specks dominate the reverse leaving poor eye appeal. No marks or other defects. Nicely struck MDS, Manley state 2.0, with the usual die clashmarks on both sides. Our grade is MS60. The attribution is shown on the NGC label.
