Lot 1111
1921. NGC graded MS-66. Lovely light golden toning. Scarce date. Mintage in 1921 for all denominations except the Silver Dollar fell markedly from what it had been in years prior. American business experienced a short, sharp depression during the year. No doubt this was the "morning after" heartburn from the inflationary drunken spree the country had gone wild on in World War I. With manufacturing and retailing at a lower ebb in 1921, there was little demand for new coins. Hence, the hard-to-find 1921-dated issues, like the delightful, satiny Gem MS66 Quarter Dollar offered here. Pop 22; 2 finer, 1 in 66+, 1 in 67.
Estimated Value $3,500 - 3,800.

Lot 1112
1926-D. PCGS graded MS-64 Full Head PQ. CAC Approved. Housed in an Old Green Holder. A hint of gold tone. A coin that should be regraded as there is every reason to believe it can earn a 65 grade for its billowy luster and instant eye-appeal. We have handled precious few '26-D Quarters that are as sharply struck as the coin in this lot. Specialists in this series are well aware of the striking problems that dog this D-mint issue. In fact, softness of detail is so extreme for most examples that, if they are submitted for third-party certification at all, such coins are severely limited as to the grade that they can obtain. The present example, however, possesses all of the attributes that one should demand for the Full Head Choice Mint State 64 PQ level. To start with the strike, it is overall sharp in appearance. In fact, those few isolated design elements that are not sharp are nevertheless boldly defined. As for this coin's other attributes, the luster is full and satiny, and the surfaces are free of outwardly bothersome abrasions. Pop 31; 31 finer, 19 in 65, 9 in 66, 3 in 66+ (PCGS # 5757) .
Estimated Value $5,000-UP.

Lot 1113
1927-S. PCGS graded MS-62. Housed in a First Generation Holder. A hint of light gold tone near the edges. Scarce date. Both the eye-appeal and satiny luster on this key S-mint coin are what a collector likes to see, and only the presence of a few scattered field abrasions precludes a choicer rating. Mintage for the 1927-S fell drastically from S-mints before it. Only 396,000 were made. Not quite fully struck, as usual, with just a narrow region of weakness found on the head and eagle’s breast, the two design high points that caused the Mint a lot of trouble. Rarely offered in Mint State grade (PCGS # 5764) .
Estimated Value $4,500 - 5,000.
