  Israel. Palestine Mandate, 1935-1951 Cafe Werner Tokens in Bronze, 6-Piece Set. Haffner MT-6. 20 Mils and 5 agorot EF, 10-20-30-40-50 Mils in VF. Issued by Zvi Werner who arrived in Haifa from Vienna and opened Café Werner on Herzl Street in 1935. The tokens were imported by Zvi Werner blank and the inscriptions have been impressed on the tokens in Haifa. Were in circulation until the café was closed in 1951, when the owner passed away.
It is believed that the tokens were used by the waiters for calculations and at times of shortage of coins there were used as currency.

The foundations for the Haifa Refineries were laid by the Anglo-Iranian Oil Corporation in 1938 and was transferred to the Israel Government in 1959. The refinery and storage tanks are pictured, along with the Biblical verse "Purified seven times (Psalms 12:7)." Very scarce. Uncirculated.

First, is a group of 4 Prisoner of Conscience Star of David Medallions issued by the Union of Councils for Soviet Jews, including gold-color Hillel Butman and Izia Zalmanson with chains in original packaging, and silver-color Boris Penson and Anatoly Altman without chains. Second, are 5 golden Star of David bookmarks issued by the Israel Government Coins and Medals Corporation to commemorate Israe's 50th anniversary (1998). Third is a group of uniface silver and gold-color medals issued by the Israeli Art Issuing House Co., including medals by Janco and Castel. Fourth is a group of Extremely Fine Litzmannstadt Ghetto coins in denominations of 5, 10 and 20 Marks, with a Certificate of Authenticity. Fifth is group of three 1 oz sterling silver medals issued by the Judaic Heritage Society for Golda Meir and 2 for Truman (one gold-plated). Sixth are two 50mm bronze medals by Karen Worth depicting Israel fighting angel, commemorating Israel's 27th anniversary; one is edge marked SALES SAMPLE AMI and the other is uniface with test mark on edge.   Israel, Group of Very Large Very Heavy Bronze Medals. The most impressive medal in this lot is 5-inch diameter uniface art medal #262/350 picturing Samson leaning on the temple pillars, breaking them and pulling them down on the people. Beneath Samson is the verse "And Samson took hold of the two central pillars" in Hebrew., weighing 1 pound 13 oz, with custom stand. Next is a 3 1/2 inch calendar medal for the year 1996/1997 #308, with inscription "A Land of Milk and Honey," with a custom wood stand. Third is a large self-standing 4 1/4 x 5 3/4" bas relief of Herzl, indications "Made in Israel" on the back. Fourth is an unusual set of 6 rectangular 3 x 4" medals illustrating varios stages of the Sinai Campaign (1974-5) along with a 2 3/8" round medal. The Samson medal alone was sold by the ICMC for over $300--and they sold out. Should be examined to be appreciated.

Also includes two Hanukkah from Franklin Mint and last but definitely not least--a spectacular medal commemorating the 50th anniversary the Mizrahi Bank (1923-1998) sculpted by famous Israeli sculptor Frank Meisner; features a golden Star of David that spins within a golden "50;" silver-colored medal is nearly 3 1/2" diameter; has a bit of oxidation but still is a spectacular medal.
