Israel and U.S., Two Complete Collections Salvador Dali's Twelve Tribes Pure Silver Medals. The first set has a low mintage! Only 777 of the Tribe of Shimon were ever minted by the IGCMC, therefore making a whole set very hard to find. The other tribes were also minted in very small quantities- the average amount being about 930 medals per tribe. All medals carry the same serial number--00119. Issued from 1993-1996. Total weight of medals is over 40 troy oz. of pure silver, and each one features the tribal symbol in full color. Medals are as issued with a whisper of pleasant toning. In original presentation case.

The second collection made to commemorate Israel's 25th anniversaery (1973, has matching serial number 628. These 50mm round medals are each made from 80 gm of .999 fine silver. In original wood case.

Salvador Dali, the reknowned surrealistic artist, was mystified by the awesome saga of the Jewish people and their renewal in Israel after 2000 years. Israel history incited his imagination inspiring several of his most magificent creations. Each depicting one tribe, the obverse side contains another creation: " Hora Around the Menorah." The medals are minted in very limited quantity and are a stunning artistic collection, both unique and valuable.

Total weight of medals is over 40 troy oz. of pure silver, and each one features the tribal symbol in full color. Medals are as issued with a whisper of pleasant toning. In original presentation case.
Estimated Value $1,500 - 2,500.

Israel, Exceptional Very Rare Lot of 24 Large Bronze and 2 Silver Presentation Medals. These are all 59mm bronze: Included are two 1973 Shin-Bet with no state emblem and not silver plated, unlisted anywhere (costing the consignor $500 and $1000 respectively). Also, there is the 1973 Shin-Bet silver-plated medal with the Israel seal on the reverse plus a personalized inscribed Hebrew inscription to Naomi Colon (?)--only 10 were made and it currently is cataloged at $500. There are two trial strikes for 1st Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition, dated 1973 (regular issue is dated 1974), without Rubinstein's signature and with Picasso's signature (consignor paid $925 for one of these and $475 for the other), and one of the regular presentation pieces (dated 1974 and with portrait in an entirely different style). Only 100 presentation medals were made in 1959 for the B'nai B'rith Convention with English reverse inscription--and this one is inscribed with the name of an attendee--Mrs. MAURICE TURNER (current value about $200). Just 463 made in 1973 for Haim Bar-Lev, Minister of Commerce and Industry. A beautiful glossy chocolate brown medal was presented by "Protestant Board of School Commissioners for the City of Montreal" for "General Proficiency in School Studies" to (engraved): Moses Segal/Bancroft School/June 1928. The President's Medal Awarded by Jewish National Fund to (engraved): Morris Bram March 1976; Bram was the founder of the American Israel Numismatic Association. The 1961 presentation medal for 10th General Assembly has an "A" after the French inscription--just 500 made and valued today at about $75. In addition are: 1977 presentation medal made for Bank Leumi, 1963 ZOA Convention, David Alazar Lt. General Chief of the General Staff (consignor paid $375), two 1965 U.I.T.P. (Public Transportation) Congress, 1960 International Congress of Local Authorities with English on reverse (client paid $220 at 2001 FUN). There are two Bar-Ilan undated uniface presentation medals that were probably privately struck; one is inscribed "HENRY L. KRAUSHAT/FOUNDER." You musd donate $10,000 to Bar Ilon University to obtain one of these medals; there are only about 100-200 Founders. The next medal in the lot is not a presentation piece, but Haffner calls it "Rare." Haffner writes: "The demand for the copper medals oversubscribed the issue. In order to meet the demand there was a reissue of the medals which contained plugged holes, as is this piece. Another bronze medal was presented by Levi Eshkol "For service in the cause of Israel's development (consignor paid $300). Also included are two privately issued 59mm medals for the Israel Fire Fighting Service and a scarce official presentation medal for Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.

The two silver medals are: the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Second Congress, Jerusalem, June 1973 (consignor paid $300), and Canada Park, Presented by Keren Kayemeth Leisrael to (inscribed): Mr. & Mrs. Harris D. Gulko (eith a few edge dings).

Israel, 4 Rare Medals: Pattern First Settlers, Brockage 25th Anniversary, Test Strike Tourism Award, Jaffa Coin Medal. The pattern for the 1963 First Settlers medal is struck from lead and weighs 173 gm very scarce 120 gm for the bronze. The inscription around the obverse (ISRAEL IN HOMAGE TO THE FIRST ONES) is raised very scarce incused on the final medal. The reverse is virtually identical to the final medal. The 1965 Jaffa medal is struck in lead from the final dies. The 1973 ISRAEL'S 25th ANNIVERSARY bronze medal is a full brockage, with the reverse an incused mirror image of the obverse. The consignor paid big bucks for each of these, and they deserve a place in a serious collection. In addition there is the "normal" 25th Anniversary 45mm .935 fine silver (45gm) medal, with the Zodiac mosaic at Beth Alpha on the reverse.
