1879-S. Reverse of 1879. PCGS graded MS-66. CAC Approved. A sparking white gem. Our consignor clearly has an eye for beautiful Gem Morgan Dollars, as exemplified here. In 1879, the Mint made Morgan Silver Dollars with two different reverses. The first, called "Reverse of 1878 or "Second Reverse"" was a holdover from the previous year and shows a flat-breasted eagle and a flat feather on the top fletch of the arrows. The second, called "Reverse of 1879" or "Third Reverse" has an eagle with a nice, rounded breast and a slanted feather on the top fletch of the arrows. The Reverse of 1878 is considerably more expensive than the Reverse of 1879, especially in high grades (PCGS # 7092) Estimated Value $250 - 275
