1760 Voce Populi Halfpenny Nelson-3 (the VOOE Variety) Rarity-3 PCGS graded VF35. Glossy medium brown. The obverse is smooth and choice but the reverse suffers a bit from splashes of darker chocolate toning on the upper half, and there are traces of roughness and verdigris in those darker areas. These splashes certainly catch your eye, but they are not significant enough to deter the PCGS folks from grading this piece. The date and legends are strong and the VOOE error is bold.   1783 Maryland Chalmers Shilling with Long Worm Breen-1012 NGC graded AU details, Improperly Cleaned. Medium grayish steel with slightly lighter steel toning on the highpoints from a very light cleaning. No notable marks. The surfaces are reasonably smooth but there is extremely fine roughness in the fields on the obverse (the Chalmers side) and traces of crud can be found in a few of the protected areas. The obverse is misaligned to K-6 leaving the tops of NNAPOL off the planchet while the reverse (birds side) is better centered with all the devices complete. This piece is well struck, even in the centers, which is unusual for the considerably rarer Long Worm variety. Listed on page 51 in the "Redbook." Estimated Value $3,000-UP

The only mark visible to the unaided eye is a dull, shallow scratch from the R in GEORGIVS to the hair ribbon. All these marks are old and blend into the attractive glossy chocolate and steel brown toning. Otherwise this piece is choice. LDS with extensive die rust on both sides. Weight 118.3 grains. The normal obverse was struck slightly off center to K-1 but the legends remain easily readable. The reverse was struck twice against the obverse of a previously struck example with an offset of about a millimeter between those impressions. Ten points sharper but covered with extremely faint roughness under a glossy dark olive brown and steel patina. No contact marks or verdigris. There are several small planchet voids on the reverse mixed in with designs from the Connecticut copper that was overstruck with the New Jersey dies. AUCTORI from the Connecticut is visible at the bottom of the shield, but there is not enough undertype available to attribute it to a Miller die variety. Rare LDS with the obverse die broken into three distinct pie-shaped wedges. Weight 133.1 grains. Listed on page 70 in the "Redbook." And it comes with a great provenance. Estimated Value $1,000-UP
