June Long Beach Coin Auction

Barber Quarter Dollars

Lot Photo Description Realized
Lot 2753
1901 Barber Quarter Dollar. NGC graded Proof 68 Cameo. Only 813 minted. A white gem. This crisply struck Superb Gem has both a brilliant obverse and reverse, without the least tinge of color anywhere to be seen other than the mighty silvery iridescence. A mint employee polished the obverse die and then frosted the recessed (in the die) relief portions, and as a result, a lovely cameo effect against the mirror field replaces the often-seen all-brilliant style used on most Barber coinage this year. The parsimonious production of 813 pieces assures that high grade survivors are very elusive. Pop 5; none finer at NGC .
Estimated Value $6,000 - 7,000.

Lot 2755
1910 Barber Quarter Dollar. NGC graded Proof 65. A nice white coin. The fully brilliant example we now present bidders beats (from a technical angle) practically all of the Mint States that have passed through the various grading services and is a resplendent Proof. We leave behind the luster and move on to the devices. Even the most delicate detail seen on this coin shows it was made with uncommon exactness for the issue. Only 551 minted. Pop 31; 61 finer .
Estimated Value $1,500 - 1,550.
