Flown Apollo 11 Thermal Coating, Two 1 inch square samples of Apollo 11 Kapton foil Command Module thermal coating. The gold side of the foil has been affixed to a Plexiglas square in preparation for presentation. The reverse side (silver colored) is exposed. These samples were destined for a more formal presentation but are very interesting in their current form. Includes a consignor’s handwritten, signed COA that reads in part, "This foil is from Apollo 11, CM 107, "Columbia"… It was given to me in mid 1969, and has been in my possession ever since". Apollo 11 Lunar Plaque – Made from the original negative., The original Apollo 11 stainless steel plaque measures 9" x 7 5/8" and is affixed to the Eagle’s ladder. This aluminum plaque measuring 3"x 2½" was made by NASA from the same negative using the same photo etching process as the one on the LM. Includes a consignor’s handwritten, signed COA that reads in part, "This small Apollo 11 plaque was made from the master negative. This same negative was used to produce the plaque left on the lunar surface." No more than 200 of these small plaques were made and given to NASA employees and most have likely been lost over the years. Apollo 15, 1971, Crew-Signed, "Phases of the Moon" Cover, with a multicolor "Phases of the Moon" cachet tied by a July 26, KSC machine cancel, crew-signatures (Scott, Worden, Irwin) below and a red "August 7th Recovery" cachet alongside. The cover has a red "July 26 Launch" handstamp on the reverse and includes a printed enclosure. This is likely a crew "insurance" cover similar to the covers carried by the crew to the moon. Donald Puddy’s Apollo 13 Caricature., In addition to many roles Don Puddy held at NASA one of his most important was serving as head of the team that came up with many of the lunar module lifeboat procedures that were eventually used after the Apollo 13 accident. To that point one of his coworkers painted this image of the lifesaving help he provided to the Apollo 13 crew and that would be available for following missions if necessary. Apollo 16 Flown Lunar Surface Flag, The consignor was a NASA employee who worked with many of the astronauts and crews to create attractive displays of their flown memorabilia. Some of them were used as gifts, or presentations thanking staff. This flag, flown on Apollo 16 was given to the consignor by the crew for his help and support. An accompanying handwritten and signed COA reads, "This American Flag (4 x 5 ½") was flown on Apollo 16 to the Lunar Surface aboard Lunar Module #11, "Orion". This flag was given to me the crew upon their return has been in possession ever since." The flag is in excellent condition with a few creases. Apollo 17 Flown Lunar Surface Flag (Apollo 17) (4x6") This unmounted flag is accompanied by a color photocopy of a 1975 typed letter/COA on NASA letterhead from Gene Cernan to Ed Barker stating that the flag was flown on "America" and "Challenger" Apollo XVII. There is an additional photocopied handwritten note in red ink, initialed "ESB" stating "Given to me by Gene Cernan - Personal Kit - Apollo 17 - In his suit while on the moon".
