1838 Hard Times Token Low-54, Rulau HT-81 R1. NGC graded EF-40. The popular "AM I NOT A WOMAN & A SISTER" anti-slavery token that passed as a cent during those times. Choice glossy chocolate brown. No defects. The 38 in the date is clear but relatively weak; overall the strike is better than normal for this variety. The attribution is noted on the NGC label. Listed on page 389 in the "Redbook."
